I saw this movie in the theater. I'm glad I saw it. But it is not something I'd want to watch repeatedly, and therefore not a movie I'd buy.

Well, I looked at the back of the cover on dvdempire.com, and it says Disc one: Recut version of the film. Seems to be the only version in this set, so I probably won't buy it.

Amazon's page says "seamlessly branched," with commentaries on the "original cut only" FWIW.

I am disappointed that Fox is not releasing this on BD.

I bought this today at my local Best Buy. It is one of the best special editions I have seen in a long while. Disc 1 has both versions of the film. There are four commentaries. on Disc 2 you get a making-of that's 1hr 40min long. 2 deleted scenes and a host of featurettes about Christ. It is well worth the money and the wait.

They added 4 commentaries, so I think it's worth the loss.

I hope it's in HD so I can really feel the suffering and finally "get it." Man, I just couldn't get it until I saw the film. Wow. Now I GET IT.

That's because the "Recut Version" is a special feature on this set. The original theatrical version is still there too.

okay so I'm a little confused here, there's the theatrical cut, the watered down version and a new version, or is the recut version the watered down version... capice?

Jesus having a dream about marrying Mary Magdalen and living a blissful co-existence instead of going to get crucified. He wakes up at the last minute as they are nailing him to the cross...

Wait a minute... that was that Scorsese movie. Oops. Sorry.

It's sad that people like you are still making fun of Jesus even though he died for our sins. You and others are like those who stood by laughing at Jesus while he was still on the cross. You are a really big man.

I like Kevin Smith's story in Evening Harder about Ninja's coming in with uzi's saving Jesus from the cross...

So, I take it you didn't like The Last Temptation of Christ?

Duncan I laughed at your joke.

So no reviews for this anywhere? I'd get it except I'm waiting for HD (blu-ray)... but I'm sure the first one Fox puts out will be without extras... so maybe next yr they'll release this one.

As good as four commentaries is, that DTS track was a marvel. That damn Recut travesty has NO business being on the DVD.

Looks like I'm keeping the original.

Well, considering your getting LESS movie with the RECUT via seamless branching, the RECUT version has nothing to do with losing the DTS track.
