Of all the people in the Bible and throughout history, God only used one perfect person and that was the one portrayed in the movie. Everyone else had issues, flaws, sins, etc., many of them far, far worse than Mel Gibson's.
And if Jesus was so perfect, how come he knocked up Mary?

They hate the Jewish race. For instance, try Googling "Nuremberg Anti-Jewish Race Laws".
Anyway, what's the point of your post anyway? Some people are really upset by Mel's alleged anti-semitism - do you really have to wade into such a hotly emotional topic and correct people on their word usage? Don't you see how comments like yours really only serve to trivialize the topic being discussed?

It is a bit ironic that you would ask what is his point when you are using similar logic to back up your claim - certain people equating race with religion does not make it so!! And talk about trivializing the topic...I see a number of wannabe funny posts here going the opposite direction and not that many "corrections". A clown asking for an "alternate ending" could offend quite a few people, no?
The fact of the matter is that there are people who have posted in this thread who shouldn't have. Which means that it is probably time for the mods to once again lock a thread that anything but addresses its topic?

Too bad the release isn't called "The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection Edition" and released Tuesday the week after Easter or the Tuesday of Holy Week before Easter. Now that would be solid marketing.
As for the person who stated earlier about the Jews saying something about a curse, their words were, "Let his blood be on our hands and the hands of our children". This was in response to Pilate washing his hands of Jesus's conviction. There are plenty of reasons that the writers would have put it that way, but I'm not going to pariticipate in taking this thread too far off topic.

Anyway, I'll be passing on this release. It was a very moving movie, but I'm content with my current disc. I'll probably just Netflix the bonus material at some point.

I can't wait...
It's a great film (in terms of a film itself) regardless of anything else. To me, it's all fantasy anyways since I'm not christian
(well, the bible overall, I do believe Jesus existed, but as a regular person...who was so smart, he must have thought people are too stupid, and thus whatever he said, was there to control people over time). The people would want to believe in what he said and thus did so...
but anyways

So it seems pretty stupid to be so uppity over the cover art and possible lack of a slipcover. And i'm sure the 1.88:1 ratio listing is a misprint, which happens all the time on the net. And the film will most likely be presented int it's O.A.R.

I could honestly care less about the artwork. The content is what matters most to me, and it looks like Fox is finally releasing the Special Edition we all knew was coming. Count me in!

i really loved this film. took some bollocks to release a subtitled film in the west. the only bit i hated was the ending, it just felt like a halloween or crappy horror film. but the rest was pretty awesome. it should have won oscars. sadly it seems america doesnt like controversial films. all the tacky merchandise didnt help it's cause though.

I thought it was 2.35:1

Wow, four commentaries, plus a music-only track? Looks like it'll be pretty thorough, especially with both stuff pertaining to the film itself and historical documentaries. I'm eager to hear Caleb Deschenel's words on the cinematography.
I'm surprised that James Caveziel isn't on one. He was a speaker at some function I went to and had some really neat stories to tell about the shoot...
Between takes during the crucifixion scene, he was required to stay attached to the cross. As a result, he'd have an assistant lift up an ipod so he'd listen to music until filming began again. Mel Gibson would wear a clown nose while directing some of the more brutal scenes in order to lighten up the actors.
