I'm stuck between the tin and the graphic novels, which I've never read and seem pretty cool to me.

Anyone know what the prices will be at the WM? I'd like to order online but they are $20 per, and I'm sure they will be less in store.

It felt like an awfully light shipment especially for Star Wars dvds, but we will see how well that they sell on tuesday.

Sweet. I'll be picking up the tin at 10 am. The Tin at 10 ha ha ha. I picture this as a tin w/ foam inside to house the regular box set. Hopefully it's widescreen too! It would be nice if it also came with a booklet or something.

I still haven't decided if I'm buying this or not. But I thought most here had stated categorically that they wouldn't be buying because of it being non-anamorphic and the refusal of Lucasfilm to do a new transfer? Now it seems everyone has caved. Oh well.

Well, I stand corrected. If that holds true, kudos to Best Buy for selling the tin at what is, indeed, a reasonable price. Still going to go for the lithographs at Circuit City, but if they are picked clean by the time I get there, I will be happy to move on to Best Buy.

I am trying to decide where to buy my copies and the tin is last on my list. Should I reconsider? Is there something else in it that I am unaware of?

I'm with you brian. While the twin would look cool, I don't want it if it isn't housing the actual standalone DVD cases.

Terrel, I'm hurt. After all we've been through together I thought you knew me better than that. I will not buy these with a tin, I will not buy these with a lithograph; I will not buy these with some trading cards, I will not buy these with a carafe.

Had these been anamorphic I would have of course bought multiple copies to get all the goodies.

People in this thread are those who are interested in the release, and thus interested in what exclusives the various stores have with it.

i never ever ever said i wasn't buying, Im one of the whores everyone complains about who will buy anything star wars dvd related...

i think people want the tin, since its the only true box set in this release...something about grouping things together....plus many people are tin/special pagkaging fanboys..

According to a few posts, the tin is for sale right now at some Best Buy stores. Hopefully someone can post some pics, and let us know whats inside. If the tin comes with all three films in keep cases, I'm getting it for sure. If not I will most likely go with Walmart because it will be under $15 each there. Are there any exclusive action figures? Usually Walmart has action figures that are special DVD editions.

I have a question on why people are going to buy these when the 30th anaversity edition will be out next year and will have both the 1977, 1980, and 1983 release and the SE versions.

Honestly, we have no idea what the Ultimate Edition will have, provided that there actually is one. I wouldn't put it past Lucas to provide only altered versions of all 6 films.

Edit: I just checked my Best Buy weekly circular online. They didn't list prices for the individual discs, but put them right next to ROTS at $16.99. I then went to see what they were selling them for online, and it said $16.99. Looks like Circuit City's gonna win this won unless someone can confirm that the tin holds the individual keepcases.

Do you have an official statement from LucasFilms indicating that there will be a 30th Anniversary Edition and does that statement indicate what films (and versions of those films) will be included? And if you can produce such a statement, do you know that such long-range announcements have a high probability of being changed?

While I'm pretty certain that they will be releasing *something* to acknowledge the 30th anniversary next year, I think it's a bit premature to starting assuming it will be some sort of "ultimate edition". We have no idea what they have planned. It may be pretty underwhelming.

Well, what the Digital Bits posted sounded like we have some idea what they have planned:

"Also today... a follow-up on something we've been telling you to expect for quite while now. 2007, as you may well be aware, is the 30th anniversary of the original Star Wars' debut in theaters. You'd have to be stupid not to know that Lucasfilm is going to have big DVD release plans with which to celebrate the anniversary, and we've been telling you that was the case for many months now. Indeed, during our last visit to the Ranch for the DVD release of Episode III, producer Rick McCallum confirmed that a box set of all six films was going to happen eventually, and animation director Rob Coleman even let it slip that the puppet Yoda from Episode I had already been replaced with a new CG Yoda to match Episodes II & III for the "future" release. T-Bone over at Star Wars Universe recently speculated about this box set, and we've been quietly checking in with our industry sources on it as well. Well, we've confirmed it: There IS a big, ultimate, 6-film Star Wars anniversary DVD box set planned for 2007. There will be more changes to the films, and there will be LOTS of new, never-before-seen special features - all the good stuff that was held back by Lucasfilm from the original Trilogy DVD release a few years ago. Think deleted scenes and more. We don't know if good, genuinely-REMASTERED versions of the original theatrical editions of the films will be included or not (though how you could call the set "ultimate" without them, we don't know). I'm sure the tin from Bestbuy will have the original cases. I saw pics of the DVDs and it looks like they're thin enough.

are those standard keepcases or thinpaks? i can't tell.

never mind, i think they're standard. the tin in the pic looks like they won't be able to hold keepcases...

They don't look like the standard keepcases to me. They look thin. I don't see a problem with them fitting in the tin I see at the bestbuy website.

Obviously they're standard cases... you couldn't fit that extra disc tray in a slimline case, it would just have one hub on each side of the case. Also, the literature holders are usually much smaller on slimlines, if present at all.

We all have dipped how many times for these already? Now why would ANYONE buy an Ulitimate set that is not HD when you know its just a couple years down the road. If you have everything that is already released why would you spend money for another few extras. And give up the dream of having the originals anamorphic. As much as I want it IT WILL NEVER HAPPEN.....

HD isn't going to be as ubiquitous as some think.
