This should be cool. I have the 33 box set, '76 edition, production diaries, the tw o disc set, and now will prob get this. This is insane, but oh well.
Jackson and gang said months ago that they wouldn't repeat material with the EE, so I don't understand why people thought this would contain the production diaries, etc.
I'm wondering about the new LotR stuff though, since I never picked up (nor saw the majority of the trilogy).

2 disc DVD, Production Diaries, and now this 3 disc DVD. Hate or love his work, but you gotta admit Peter Jackson makes good use of the DVD format for his films.

Kong probably isn't crying out for an extended cut, but seems like most films get one these days, so no biggie. I certainly welcome it. Commentary sells me instantly. Jackson and Boyens will be superb. And the packaging will look great on the shelf with the other oversized DVD sets.

Let me get this straight. People who thought a film was too long and boring aren't really impressed by extended cuts. Whoa. Stop it, you guys are boggling my mind.
That being said, I'll have a copy please. Though it's mostly the behind the scenes and commentaries I'm interested in.

Very disappointing news about the lack of dts. I'm wondering if another region will be releasing this and maybe dts will be included there, as is sometimes the case.

That is a bummer about no DTS. The Dolby track still sounds pretty good. So if I'm reading that right it'll be split on several discs? As in the movie is split. That seems kind of odd that 13 minutes more would require another disc. I realize there is other stuff but that could have all sent on the second and third disc's.
I guess a good reason to keep the original cut as well.

I know it's a space issue thing, but I hate it when they spread long movies over two discs - Titanic's split off point didn't impress me. Well be curious to see where Jackson has decided to end disc one with.

I loved the film, can't wait for the EE DVD! Hopefully the docos in this release will be more in-depth than the production diaries.
btw..here's a pick of the "King Kong figurine" (photo reposted from the weta forums)

Thanks for the picture!
Nice figure, in my opinion. It's swayed me to pick up the giftset.
Right now, I only have the one disc...I was holding out another release, but ended up picking up the one-disc, because it was only $4...so, no big loss with double-dipping..
