Not fixing various established problems, but instead randomly adding things which, in many cases, caused further problems ... that's what people hold against Lucas. FYI, don’t know if this has been posted anywhere or not, but I’ve heard from someone in the know that there is a 5 disc, 5-cut version coming out for release by Christmas. Commentary could have both Frank Darabont and Harrison Ford on it.

Frank Darabont?
Anyway, Charlie de Lauzirika has stated, subtly, on HTF that the DVD set is full of supplements. He's stated in numerous interviews before how this is his favorite film that Ridley has done as of yet so you can imagine he's putting all he can to make this set worth the wait, which he usually does.
Guys, I think we can expect a great DVD I just can't wait for an official press release with full specs and release dates!

Come on, guys...haven't DVDs been around long enough that we're not confused when filmmakers invite their friends? Maybe Ridley Scott just wants someone to bounce off of. I don't think it's the most unbelivable thing ever, isn't Darabont a pretty good commentator? Kevin Smith was on Donnie Darko DC, William Goldman was on Panic Room, Carrot Top was on Rules of Engagement, and plenty of film critics and historians pop up on tracks (although this is somewhat more relevant), so I think Darabont could easily be on the Blade Runner track.

You can believe whatever you want in the end, I'm just passing along the info.

Shawshank has very heavy narration, It’s an element that can sink a film, yet it works wonderfully in Shawshank, cashing in on the magic of the mellifluous tones of Morgan Freeman, who plays Red. "The narration gave me pause when I was writing the script. Like halfway through I suddenly froze and said ‘Oh my God what am I doing.’ Because people do sometimes bitch about narration. When it doesn’t work it really doesn’t work.
Like Blade Runner. Blade Runner always struck me as an example of narration put on not as an intrinsic integral part of the story telling but somebody’s idea of a Band-Aid so the audience understands what the hell’s going on. At times I found it intrusive to an extreme, particularly when

Just watch. They probably got Darabont to write a new narration for the film, to be recorded by Harrison Ford's son (who has been rumored to be involved in some capacity on the Final Cut).

i hadn't even considered that
what a thought provoking idea...
didn't even occur to me that Harrison wouldn't sound right now, or that he had a kid who could double his v/o. cool.
i wish i had that gig. haha

Anyway, it'd be interesting to hear Darabont talk about Blade Runner. If this is true, hopefully he doesn't become some gushing fanboy.

I was planning on waiting for the HD/BR release of this one, but I probably would have ordered this anyways.

also liked the way all the characters were introduced into the story
