There's nothing wrong with a little hey-hey....

As a single guy, I guess the only DVD I feel sort of sheepish about when people point it out is The Railway Children -- a very good movie, but definitely kind of "girlie."

I can't believe I just made references to both porno and a children's movie in the same post!

If I threw her titles into the mix, oh hell yeah, the embarrassing factor would skyrocket...

My girlfriend has her own DVD shelf, they're not even mixed in with mine. All the Disney titles and the musicals and movies like Never Been Kissed and 10 Things I Hate About You...I don't want there being any mistake as to who owns them.

I'd say Speed 2, but apparently there's a cult of DVD Talkers who like the thing.

I felt kind of odd keeping my daughter's Hilary Duff dvds in with my own so I gave the kids their own shelf.

I'll admit to the Disney/Pixar films, but the rest of it (Duff, Thomas the Tank Engine and assorted other kids films/tv) doesn't get listed with my own library and gets it's own shelf.

This is an interesting topic...

The best of He-Man has been stuffed inside a box, out of sight since I first watched it. So I guess that'd be my most embarassing...

Content-wise about the only one I can't really defend is Desperado. Though I have others with harsher content, none are as gratuitous imo. I just recently decided to trade it in.

And you're saying that if friends came over to where you live and saw Memento and True Romance on your shelf you'd be mocked and ridiculed?

Probably not mocked and ridiculed, but those would probably be the two most likely to elicit some sort of derisory comment. It's a relative thing. Those are certainly the two DVDs I own which are the most personally embarassing.

I wonder then, what sort of comments a Michael Bay, or Martin Lawrence film would elicit.

THANK YOU! The thread topic isn't "What DVD would you be mocked for if a frat boy looked through your collection?" Embarrassment is entirely subjective. To me, I don't give two shits what someone would think of me that I own a bunch of Disney flicks.. on the other hand I am personally ashamed for having been suckered into buying Donnie Darko.

Then why is Donnie Darko still in your collection? Set your soul free. Ebay that sucker.

I'm sure whatever reaction they would elicit would necessitate resuscitation by paramedics.

It's a reminder to me to be wary of anything that had a rabid following on the internet. Besides, it was $7 new.. it's not worth my time to eBay it (listing, shipping, etc). I may throw it away one day.. but for now it's sort of an anti-trophy.

I own the Theatrical and Directors Cut of Donnie Darko and I'm glad I own both.

The Dentist -- Damn Walmart $4.88 displays
I Spit On Your Grave -- I haven't watched it yet but I have my doubts
Big Momma's House -- Too lazy to get rid of it

Mine would probably be The Girl Slaves of Morgana Le Fay. The title doesn't exactly leave much to the imagination. Second would probably be Stray Cat Rock: Sex Hunter, which has a sleazier title than it deserves.

I confess...it is embarrassing to have these nudie nuns laying about my library. But sweet lord...they are so damn sexy!
Maybe I should add that it's not my family or friends that I slip them away for.

It's our church group that sometimes visits without calling first.

Mine is the texas chainsaw massacre remake.I'll admit that R Lee Ermey made me laugh but I don't think it was meant to be a comedy.

The one that used to be my most embarrassing title was The Crying Game.It was a blind buy and I knew it had a lot of good reviews but I didn't know what the movie was about.Thankfully I no longer own that.

Interview With A She-Male- got it for 5 bucks at an employee sale where I work, just for morbid curiosity.
