Watched this tonight. I enjoyed it. Starts out slow. Then it gets going. Not that scary really. Just a good overall movie! Not sure if I figured out the ending yet.

The ending: (well, according to the commentary, anyways)
Spoiler:
the whole segment of her finding the exit hole and getting out is all in her head. She kinda goes crazy, and is, in a way, at peace inside her head, and inside the cave. Which makes sense, since they were miles underground and FAR away from any exit - there was no way she could get out and run to her car, because if she could, so could the "smeagol" creatures which defeats the whole point of how deep they really went. Just the way that she climbed the mountain of bones to a convenient hole makes it very dream-like. So the American version won't make sense, because it'll lop off the ending that shows that she didn't really get away.

Lion's Gate is going to trash this film just like they did with "High Tension"--remember the awful English dubbing track? I don't understand why studios have to treat US audiences as thought they are five years old. Of course the director has stated the original ending will be a "deleted scene" on the US dvd release. I have the UK 2-disc version and I am with everyone else who believes this is the best release. The only way Lion's Gate can redeem themselves is by including the full length UK edition on the dvd along with the US release and NOT have the ending as a supplement.

Actually, it has now been stated that Neil Marshall was the one who wanted to change the ending for the American release, so people shouldn't be too mad at Lion's Gate. It was stated that Neil Marshall told them that he never really knew how to end the film, so he wanted to try out a different ending with American audiences to see how we reacted to it. Lion's Gate said sure, we'll let you do that. They tested both endings, and the new ending tested better.

Lion's Gate said that the American DVD will also be released with the original cut of the film

Don't forget they released Haute Tension in a damn fine DVD with the original track and unrated though.

I just finished this. What a cool flick. Only one thing bothered me...

swip this: I totally thought Juno killed the other girl by complete accident, i mean she was just fighting one and the girl came up behind her. I think she could've explained her way out of it. The fact that she didn't even try bothered me a bit.

btw, how do you do normal "spoiler text"? Much better than The Cave

hmmmm. could it have been:

swipe please: Maybe she was having an affair with her husband, hence the necklace with the motto on it?

If that is it, it didn't seem apparent to me . But now that I think about it... maybe.

SuckaMC, look at the beginning again, there is a moment when:

Spoiler:
her friend gives a "look" to her husband during the whitewater rafting scene. Also, she used a phrase that her husband used to say as well.

I wonder if the dvd would contain the option to view the film with the original ending or not? I would hate to see it end up as a extra feature only. Especially since it exists in other parts of the world.

Did they release the complete Undead on dvd or not? I remember reading it was cut for pacing by about 4 minutes. And was listed as 100 minutes in the paper. Meanwhile their dvd release lists it as 104 minutes long. Is that correct or a misprint?

Thanks for this! Placed the order. CDWOW's pricing and free-shipping are great, and my customer service experiences have been top-notch. But the searching and browsing friendliness of their site leaves much to be desired. No one's going to order DVDs that are hidden on the site like a DVD easter egg.

How nasty.

I finally saw the film just last week, and although I'd have preferred the ending without the final scene myself, I still think it's wrong to have the movie seemingly adapted for an American audience.

Just look at "The Office", "Queer as Folk", and "Coupling".

Why can't you just leave our stuff alone?

Once again...The director himself is the one who altered it. He's altering his own stuff!

We now have a release date of Dec. 26th.

Details in the link, and some not so nice cover art. It looks like Carrie just fell into a mud hole.

it's because nobody in Hollywood or TVLand USA can't come up with any original ideas....

the cover implies that not only was the ending axed for the US version but some of the grue was trunscated for the US R-rated cut as well , is this the case?

So now that we have the details on the upcoming U.S. DVD release, is the "Region 2" version the better release?

Supposedly some gore was trimmed in the R rated version. But I'm not 100% certain, besides someone mentioning it on another forum claiming "If you've seen the film a few times like I have, you'll notice the missing frames in the U.S. release". And I guess Entertainment Weekly mentioned 'substituted' frames used in one gory moment or two,to be 'less graphic'.

But again,I have'nt seen the E.W. article,or the U.K. release,so I don't know for sure myself if this stuff is true or not.

Though it wouldn't surprise me if their were some minor barely noticeable frames cut in the R version. That seems to be the case now adays with gory films, only much less is being cut out than ever before(in most cases anyway).

I just hope the original ending is intact and I'll be picking this release up immediately
