Munich rumored dvd release: 5/9/06

According to the digital bits, Munich will be released on 5/9. I'm guessing Paramount is handling this release? Whomever it is, there must be a DTS track on there.

Munich was a Universal/Dreamworks/Alliance Atlantis production, so Paramount doesn't come into the equation. I believe Dreamworks is handling the disc. As per Spielberg, this will definitely have a DTS track on it. I'm sure it'll fall into the standard SS release pattern, single movie only disc, two disc deluxe edition with a great making of doc.

Digital Bits worded it: "We also expect Dreamworks (via Paramount) to bow Steven Spielberg's Munich on 5/9". Paramount owns Dreamworks now, so I'm sure they now handle all the distribution. I think part of the deal was the Dreamworks name will be used on 6 or 7 titles per year. Basically, titles Spielberg is involved in.

If they have a 2-disc set, I'm all over that. I loved this movie. It was just very well-made. Very gritty. Plus, there was a couple of Hitchcock-like moments in the film.

The last two Spielberg films to get a dual release were "The Terminal" and "War of the Worlds". "The Terminal" didn't exactly set the box office ablaze but it still had a lot more general appeal than "Munich". Because "Munich" doesn't have that "Joe Sixpack" appeal, I wouldn't be at all surprised if there was just a single 2-disc release.

I can't wait. One of the year's absolute best with Oscar-worthy editing by Michael Kahn..

I'm hoping it is just a single 2-disc set, I'm really tired of companies releasing two versions and releasing the 2-disc for 10-15 dollars more (War of the Worlds). This was in my top 3 of 2005, really looking forward to this release.

The Digital Bits has some early artwork up, apparently from an online survey Dreamworks had last week.

I prefer the 2nd choice with the red banner. I think that's the original 1-sheet poster.

I like the third, although it reminds me of something else (I can't think of what at the moment).

Nick of Time?

I like the second the best, by far.

I like the second cover a lot. Has a lot of great contrast with the deep maroonish-red and tealish-blues. Also, it's simple - as opposed to very complex designs that are flushing the cover market as of late.

Wish this was coming out sooner... might still try and catch in theaters.

Both have some similarities. But what looks familiar to me is the lettering in the background.

I like the 2nd best, followed by the 3rd, but all are nice covers IMO.

Oh, son of a (BLEEP)!!! They better not overcharge for the limited set like they did with Jarhead.

I can't wait. Munich was one of the most underrated films of 2005 (#4 on my list) that got screwed out of an Oscar for Editing (thank you very much, Paul Haggis and Crash).

Great news! I will definately be picking up the 2 disc myself, no matter what cover art they choose. I like the third myself, kind of reminds me of Cinderella Man 2 disc with that tannish border.

Hopefully, they'll go with the real theatrical art for the two-disc:

A beautifully haunting image.

Stunning movie. Thrilling, provocative, and heart-breaking. Spielberg never ceases to amaze me. Count me in for the 2-Disc unless they pull another hard-to-find/insanely-expensive trick again.
