I obtain DVD's that I think other people will like. I have several that I would never watch, but that I know are popular. I frequently have guests that want to watch movies in my HT and it's nice to have a large selection for them to choose from. As such, I have several movies that I'd be hard pressed to remember whether or not I actually own them (especially because I do a lot of trading).

When you get a HT and want to build up a library for others, you'll understand.

That should be done with multiple copies of Encino Man.

Oh, and to chime in about purchasing duplicates ... When I go on a hunt, I always have some direct purchase in mind (usually). However, if I ever see something that's on sale and a good deal that I possibly own, then I don't mistakenly purchase it ... I whine like a little schoolgirl that I paid "this much and this much" at one point for it.

I then freak out, throw DVDs around like a monkey throws feces and then I'm okay.

I have a very poor memory, but I've never done this. The only things that stick in my head these days are directions and which DVDs I own. I didn't remember if I'd already posted in this thread or not, but throw out a title and I can tell you if I own it.

Empire Of The Sun. I was going a bit nuts with CYCD orders. Goodness, who wasn't?

My collection is roughly 700+, but it's only happened to me once. Bought Crocodile Dundee again the other day, from Walmart's bargain bin. Realized once I got home, I had it already.

LMAO, and to add to that insult, instead of smiling and laughing, go ahead and take the line Pauly Shore used at the end of the movie, and say when leaving, "I'll be ba-ack". That would be much better and more freaky.

The closest I can think of is when I bought the DTS edition of Saving Private Ryan in 2001 when I had the Dolby Digital edition for about 2 years.
