I learned street date for this at Walmart of all places. I was shocked given its Walmart and all and there was an ad for Brokeback right when you entered.

ReduxGuy 03-20-06 02:20 PM

Well, it's officially announced now:

bsktballDude1 03-20-06 02:40 PM

I'm excited it's coming out in only two weeks, but I am sort of bummed that there is no Ang Lee and/or Heath and Jake commentary.

bookcase3 03-20-06 03:07 PM

The only reason I'm not bothered about the lack of a commentary from Heath and Jake is that I can't take any more lame comments about how "kissing a guy is just like kissing a girl," or even more insulting, "I had to close my eyes and envision it was a girl." The movie is a beautiful portrait of love, so I'm happy to leave it at that. It should have won Best Picture.

dvd_luver 03-22-06 02:41 PM

What's up with the two different dvd covers for BBM. Is it the same and/or one is a slipcover? On DVDactive, the cover features the nominations and best director "Ang Lee' awards, but than there is another cover that has the theatrical poster with the usual FF banner on top.

Are these 2 different editions or the same dvd?

adamblast 03-24-06 11:29 PM

A very lackluster release. Dry graphics. No commentary. Four featurettes.

Any chance you think they'll double dip, come back with a special edition for Christmas or later? I mean, wasn't this the year's most talked about and well-reviewed surprise hit film? ;)

Oh: and does anyone know if the dreaded fullscreen version is open-matte or pan-n-scan? If there's more to see, I want it too!

WalMart's also facing a fresh boycott by the "American Family Association" for daring to stock this anti-family movie. :brickwl2:

April 4th is almost here!

I visited Best Buy yesterday and I saw Brokeback Mountain listed as a new release next week! I'm happy I'll finally be able to own this masterpiece.

I think the first one was created before the Oscars sweep/disaster.

So than I take it some may have leaked out, I have seen them on ebay of the nicer theatrical poster like cover, which I prefer over the silver/awards pimped out cover. I would presume those are authentic copys of BBM.

Wait... which one is not authentic? I got this one, looked fine to me, with seal tags and everything.

My roomate works for a printing company that prints posters, dvd covers and promotional material for most of the film companies. They printed up the dvd covers in November. If I remember right he said they printed up 300,000 of them. I'll ask him if they printed up anymore with a diffrent style (silver) when he gets home in a few hours. Maybe there going to ship out more than they first thought and there might be two diffrent covers...

CRS, relax, there is about a 99% chance that the copy you own of BBM is certainly authentic. :) However, as you are aware, there are 2 different covers and I am trying to figure out exactly why?

I have an idea, which is that the studio had already made a few hundred thousand copys or more, and changed the cover after the Oscars, to show the awards won. So there will be two different covers floating around on release date, more than likely.

I originally was thinking that, but I have seen rental covers be different than retail before, but what you said was my original idea. Thanks!

Everybody who owns the non-silver cover needs to chill out, as they are almost certainly authentic and may be more collectible. It all depends.

It looks like there will be 2 different covers of BBM afterall.

Drexl 03-29-06 09:38 PM

I want the non-silver cover. Will that be harder to find?

LiquidSky 03-30-06 07:11 AM

I like the non silver as well. The full poster cover looks better, in my humble opinion :)

bunkaroo 03-30-06 10:01 AM

Could they make the "widescreen" print any smaller?

Idiots.

DeepSleep 03-30-06 10:05 AM

I like the non-silver cover better. The silver cover looks like a super-bit...

digitalfreaknyc 03-30-06 04:14 PM

Saw it at a store on my lunch break. Wasn't the Silver version.

danwiz 03-30-06 10:47 PM

My copy is in the mail from Amazon.com, wonder which version it will be - silver or black cover?!
