Wow, that was quick.

I think I'll wait for the rumored
Brokeback Mountain: Stand Back I Don't Know How Big This Thing's Gonna' Git Edition.

Seriously, though, it isn't coming to my area (only at a GLBT theater that I wouldn't be caught dead at) so I guess I will have to wait for a DVD release.
I saw posters up at a couple of theaters but I guess they decided not to take it.

That's probably why it's coming so fast. I don't think it's getting as many screens as they'd like.

Duality 01-09-06 12:25 PM

Well Brokeback Mountain is back in the Top 10 again. I believe it debuted at #7 back in December. Furthermore it is making more money per screen than the #1 film! I'm now thinking that the DVD release date will be later.

riley_dude 02-16-06 02:33 PM

There you are Duality. I have missed chatting with you and you have no email links. :)

I'm thinking it will still be announced after they found out how it does at the Oscars.

Where are you getting the info that it's making a higher per screen avg?

Box Office Mojo from Tuesday:

Final Destination 3, $942/screen

Brokeback Mountain, $290/screen

Wonder if this will come with a Vaseline or Trojan sample?

gryffinmaster 02-16-06 08:04 PM

Wonder if the Collector's/Special Edition of the film will supply a collectible copy of the short story (mentioned earlier) built into the packaging a la Sin City, Batman Begins, etc. That'll be a nice set for a great flick.

I think it's odd that it'll be coming out a few days after the Oscars as well because of the packaging. Maybe they know something we don't. Either that or they're going to keep a classy cover.

Drexl 02-16-06 08:38 PM

I'm waiting for the "Double Dipping, I Wish I Knew How to Quit You" Edition.

Then again, maybe if I can wait, I do know how, huh?

Anyway, has any one got the cover art yet?

digi....I was just teasing you. If I didn't like you, I would not tease you. Now settle down and give me a hug! :)

LiquidSky 02-17-06 07:17 AM

I haven't seen any samples of the cover art. I hope they stick with the one-sheet artwork and not floating heads.

Would be cool if there was a music video for the Willie Nelson/Emmylou Harris song.

I noticed that Willie wrote another C/W song about men falling in love. Of course, it was "big news" here in Nashville. The news reporter was wrong stating that it was the first gay country song. The Lemonheads did a song back in the early 1990s called "Big Gay Heart" that was county/western.

Hey, I've missed chatting with you too. Since the movie thread hit an iceberg, I decided to take a break from posting.

The most interesting Brokeback development this week has been Willie Nelson's song. There is quite a bit they could do with the DVD release. Including his new song sure would be a nice gesture to fans of the film.

BTW, I've thought about adding my e-mail address. It's funny that during the past six or seven years I never got around to it.

Nows a good a time as ever to add it. Where in N.Cal are you?
I have been reading about the Willie Nelson song. Good for him! Trying to stay away from the "Other" thread. Seems like the people in there that are posting are the ones that dont even like the movie. Irony.

I look forward to seeing the movie again at home. Also, someone sent me a link the other day of the Adult version that came out. That was quick. :)

I'll send you an e-mail about my location - Top Secret!;) I'm also "trying" to stay away from the other thread. I've posted three times there today and you're right.

Regarding the official Brokeback Mountain DVD, in a perfect world, we would get a boxed set with the adult version included.:)

Well, when I saw the movie in the theater, it was preceeded by a KY Jelly ad. It was on one of the ad spots that run before the lights go down.

And, they could've used it in the movie. Ouch.

Duality 02-20-06 09:44 AM

4 BAFTAs! There should be a special insert that lists the awards this film has received. Realistically, I sure hope the awards are listed on the cover of the DVD in an uncluttered layout that doesn't obscure Heath and Jake.

Duality 02-27-06 01:29 PM

Well, less than a week until the Oscars and I want this DVD so much I can taste it! BTW, I watched Midnight Cowboy over the weekend and it came with little postcards that show scenes from the film - just like the special edition of King Kong. If Focus Features is listening, please consider doing something like this. I would love frameable art from Brokeback.

Are you talking about "He Was A Friend of Mine" sung by Nelson on the soundtrack???

Don't want to burst any bubbles but that is a cover of an early Dylan song that more about civil rights than homosexuality.

No he's talking about "Cowboys are Frequently Secretly Fond Of Each Other" but Willie didn't write that song either, just recorded it

Doug Schiller 02-27-06 03:04 PM

Man, I'm getting old. These jokes are going over my head. I apologize for interrupting the thread.
