I've listened to the Ebert commentary and it is a mix of old and new comments. He sounds about 20 years older whenever he talks about the Director's Cut.

How are people getting this so early? Isn't it going to be released on the 29th?

Some European shops that sell RC1 DVDs send them out as soon as they get them - they don't care about release dates. Dark City was shipped over two weeks ago.

Are you sure about that? Ebert hasn't been able to speak for the past two years due to complications from his oral cancer surgery.

And this thread was started two years ago when news broke that Ebert was recording a new commentary.

Yeah, Ebert recorded the newer commentary along time ago. This project has been in the works for almost 3 years.

Nether the Fresno nor Clovis Best Buy had any copys of the Blu Ray version nor the dvd version. I checked Rasputin and they said they weren't getting their copys til Thursday for some odd reason. I didn't check any other stores but I may check City tomorrow.

$12 and $14.99!? I feel ripped off now with my $18.95 Amazon purchase Anyway, got mine in the mail today (Blu-Ray of course) and just watched it. The picture is fantastic. Some scenes better than others. If it were consistent, I'd give it a 5 out of 5 PQ rating. But this is the best this film has ever looked so I'd give it a 4.5/5. Same for the sound.

Picked up the Blu-ray version today at BB (last one) and paid $17.29 with my Rewards Zone certificate.

Movieman:

I got the last/only one at my local BB today, but I price matched their website @ $18.99. Go back and get a credit!

Problem is I used a $20 Reward Zone certificate, I'm not sure how they'll adjust it since I paid less than $18.99. Last time I did, they had a hard time doing it. But I'll give it a try tomorrow.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Director's Cut. While I was watching it, I felt like I missed the jagged editing of the original. However, I then rewatched the first 10 minutes or so of the theatrical cut and felt that the editing was too severe. I'm not sure which version I favor yet.

I don't know; maybe they don't have a deal with Apple or something.
