Well, got the $6 put back on my credit card, so thanks for pointing out the price, JSwarce. I figured out I paid around $12.55 with my RZ certificate.

Be glad this wasn't a Sony release. Their version of Digital Copy is only compatible with the PSP and PS3.

Picked it up today cause Rasputin got it's copys and I just watched it. I like the directors cut more than the original. There is more room to breath in the begining, and I love the set up with the directors cut. It works so much better without the voiceover and not knowing whats going on or going to happen. It works better and acts like a noir nightmare to start off with. Going to watch it one more time tonight, this time with the fact track on to see whats new to the film.

Got this on Blu-Ray and liked the changes except for one aspect.
In the original cut it was obviously an overdub when Jennifer Connelly is singing at the beginning in the club. In this new version they seem to have used a different voice which I can only guess is hers, because it's not too good. Also, another song in the nightclub is added later on which I don't recall being in the theatrical cut. It's seems totally superfluous. William Hurt walks in, listens, and walks out. Definitely not needed IMO.

Someone on another forum pointed out that it kind of makes sense plot-wise that she wouldn't be a good singer. Food for thought.

Listened to the Ebert commentary last night on the DC and it sounded all new. Lots of gaps but dont remember it having any of the old track mixed in unless i really dont remember it.
Ill have to go back and listen to her voice now tonight. I was too busy looking at her than paying attention to her voice i guess...

I was actually more pleasantly surprised to see Melissa George's scenes...
I didn't know who she was back then, but after seeing 30 Days Of Night and In Treatment, it was a welcome surprise.

I liked the director's cut of this film more than the original.
And yes, Jeniffer singing badly was so much wiser and more true to the film. She's just some girl who had memories injected into her forehead, not an actual singer. Dubbing in a terrific voice was stupid. Memories do not change the nature of a larynx and make it sound wonderful.

Either way could be explained in the context of the movie. Connelly's voice is unpleasant to listen to, and for that reason I'd rather have the dubbed version of that scene.

Holy crap! This movie is AMAZING! Without a doubt one of the best blind buys I've ever purchased. It totally reminded me of The Matrix mixed with Blade Runner mixed with Memento (yes, I know The Matrix and Memento came out after DC but still...)
Also, I don't see what was so bad about Jennifer Conelly's singing. I thought she sang quite well in the first scene.

In any case, the movie never says that they can't do it.

Welcome the world of Dark City! Great movie! Yes! I was one of the few who actually saw it opening weekend. I think it made about $5 million if I recall. I loved it and tried to tell the world about it, but they obviously didn't listen. It's nice to see it come back to life on dvd.
I ordered my copy from Deepdiscount. Cheaper than Amazon if you count shipping.
I do have to say though, I remember when I first saw this and I could totally tell it wasn't Jennifer singing. It was a terrible dub job and they got the wrong singer to dub the voice because the voice didn't "sound" like it would come out of Jennifer. It totally took me out of the scene. So I have to say, no matter what Jennifer sounds like, I think it has to work much better than the dubbed voice.
Can't wait to watch it! I'm very excited to see the changes, though I think the original is perfect!

It's been $9 at my local walmart for a couple weeks now. Saw it about a month ago for that price. Dont know if it has changed since then.
