Now if they can get started on that SE for The Big Sleep.
Agree as well. If only The Big Sleep wasn't still in a snapper, I'd pick it up anyway.

I'm all over this 3disc falcon release, glad I held out. It has been a while, but should be very well worth the wait.

Since The Big Sleep is being included in the Bogie and Bacall Signature Collection that comes out July 25, it is an almost certainty that it will be appearing in a keepcase from then on....... or at least it will be in that collection.

That's pretty much a definite certainty, thanks for pointing that out.

Guess I haven't been paying attention, because I didn't know this set was coming out.
I'll probably get that whole box. All 4 of those movies are due for a keepcase conversion.

Jesus, this set looks amazing! Warner must take the title of Best Studio for its treatment of its catalog.

An FYI for Columbia House members-you can now preorder this set for $22.46. There are a few Buy 1, Get 1 FREE codes[such as 807748] working right now, so you can snag this set with another movie for under $30.

I saw this on CH's pre-order page, that's how I noticed it! I was gonna post the cover art too, but my server is f'd up right now so I can't post it.

Anyway, good advice as you'll also notice that this is a specially priced item and will probably never be available for enrollment. So the cheapest way to get this would be to get it before 10/3 as a pre-order.
Can't wait to get this myself. I'm going to wait another month or two before I order this though.

I just wish they would give this the 9k Lowery SE treatment.
Love this film.

$17.95 with FREE shipping at CH.com. Remember this is a 3 disc set and even with a B1G1 code, they will add extra shipping cost to the $22.46 special price at the regular Columbia House site. Of course, add state sales tax where applicable.

What?! Both Key Largo and Big Sleep are lacking almost everything that a good DVD release requires: film commentary and supplementary material. The Big Sleep *definitely* needs SE treatment by Warner.

So despite having excellent A/V quality, KEY LARGO isn't a "good DVD release"? And the same goes for BIG SLEEP, even though it has the pre-release version, with an extra that explains the differences?

I'm happy with Key Largo, but I think Big Sleep definitely deserves a better restoration. There are parts of that film that are pretty washed out. But I think Warner said they can't do anything unless a better print surfaces.

Cool, just now seeing this news. Definitely looking forward to the 3 disc set on this. Also looking forward to Across the Pacific, that was a fun movie.

Passage to Marseille on the other hand, ugh. I think at one point in the movie, you are in a flashback, within a flashback, within a flashback, within a flashback. Started to get a bit silly after a while.

Do CH.com and Columbiahouse.com use different account information? I'm asking because my current Columbia House account was done on that particular site, but when I log in on CH.com for this $17.95 deal, it gives me the higher price.

Do I have to have joined under CH.com to get this?

Thanks Patrick.

I'm not sure I'm crazy about them showing the Falcon on the front cover. Kind of a spoiler IMO

My problems with the cover isn't because it's a spoiler (I mean, a spoiler for a movie this old? C'mon). My problem with it is that it's not an original movie poster like most of WB's classic movie dvd releases are.

Yeah, I was hoping for one of the older posters to be used like Casablanca. Maybe a vertical version of this one:

But this cover is okay, if simplistic and a little spoilerish. Still can't wait!

Granted a film this old shouldn't receive criticism for spoilers (I follow the 5 year rule myself), but if I recall, the film itself builds the falcon up to almost mythical status before we see that it's just a plain black statue.

So having a large picture on the cover kinda takes away a little from the enjoyment (at least for those who have never seen it).

Still, incredibly excited for this release; and I really shouldn't be complaining about somehting so minor on a release this great anyway.
