The 14 Disc has the Donner Cut of part II, right? Sorry if that is a stupid question, didn't feel like scrolling. :D

but most of the planet of the apes films are rubbish. whereas all the aliens films are watchable and much cheaper than that ape head.

kevkev 09-23-06 11:07 AM

silly question but does anyone remember the anti smoking cartoon advert?

Hey, buddy, you wanna step outside? :duel:

kevkev 09-23-06 02:01 PM

ok. you sit there with your monkey films while i watch superman at his best. even 3 + 4 are better than all the apes sequels.

honestjohn 09-23-06 03:20 PM

How the hell did this thread go to the apes? Anyway, I'm with Mr. Cinema. That FOX set for POA was outstanding as a collectable and all inclusive as far as content. It had EVERYTHING a simian lover could want. This was indeed one of the best Box Sets ever released. Now, I'm talking packaging and material, NOT how "good" these films were. Personally, I enjoyed 1,3,&4.

Now to bring it back home. If I had choice between watching Superman IV on a 50" HDTV or staring at a Poster for 2 hours of Roddy McDowall wearing a Chimp Mask, Roddy would beat Nuclear Man any day of the week. So stick that in your Forbidden Zone you Damn Dirty .....ahhh nevermind :)

And for the record, that 14 DVD Superman Set looks awesome. Can't decide between buying just the Superman 4-Disc Set and Superman II Donner Cut or the whole 14 DVD Set, the packaging is really sweet.

You may as well get the 14 disc set, if you go by the SRPs.

Superman 14-Disc Collection = SRP $99.92
Christopher Reeve Superman Set = SRP $79.92
Superman: The Movie 4-Disc Set = SRP $39.92
Superman II 2-Disc Set = SPR $26.99
Superman II: Donner Cut = SRP $24.98
Superman III = SRP $19.98
Superman IV = SRP $19.98
Superman Returns (One Disc) = SRP $26.98
Superman Returns (Two Disc) = SRP $34.99

dizzlle01 09-23-06 07:57 PM

Havent had a chance to pick up any of the superman movies because of so many releases to pick up. But definitely will be picking this up. Hopefully next year there wont be the super duper ultimate edition.

jmj713 09-23-06 08:53 PM

The 14-disc set should be $69.94 on Amazon (currently all releases but it are up for preorder).

With A9 active, that should make it $68.84.

That's a hair under five bucks a disc.

Ah, if only America could have gotten this version of the Quadrilogy:

TomOpus 09-23-06 10:00 PM

I would've loved to have that offered to R1. I don't know where I'd put it but I'd get it anyway.

Supermallet 09-23-06 11:09 PM

I almost ordered it but it was absurdly expensive and I had already bought the R1 Quadrilogy, so I just skipped it.

Fok 09-24-06 03:20 AM

Can't wait for this set!

ShaunoftheDead 09-27-06 12:04 PM

Post pre-order sites...

Can people please post when they see this up for pre-order on any site...

Thanks.

dullboy 09-27-06 04:11 PM

Whoa...hold on. Davisdvd is showing the back side of the Christopher Reeve Collection Box, and it seems as if it is now including The Donner Cut, not to mention the individual cover art within seems to have changed.

That's Region 2

dullboy 09-27-06 04:24 PM

Oh yeah...guess I didn't notice the number 2 displayed on the bottom. But, oddly enough, Davisdvd put it on their Backcovers Gallery. I've never seen them add Region 2 artwork into their galleries, only their Regional Spy section.

Not only that, but the artwork is better. Not drastically, but definitely better. And a 3-Disc set for Superman II with Donner cut? Interesting.

dvd_luver 09-27-06 05:38 PM

That artwork is definitly a huge improvement over region 1, I would settle for it, but I still don't like it very much, but more than region 1. Thankfully the excellent Superman box set is being released the same day in the USA. So we don't have to look at those painful covers if we don't want to. :)

CertifiedTHX 09-27-06 07:35 PM

Also fooled into thinking R1 might have changed covers. Not that it matters, anyway. Certainly more appealing, but still wouldn't consider buying, not with the dreamy 14-disc set coming our way.

What's interesting about that? The Donner cut is one disc and the theatrical is 2. Same as R1. Nothing new.
