Yes. The Christopher Reeve discs in the 14-disc set are the same as the standalone releases.

This is going to save me a lot of money that day. This and the serial collection will take care of Nov. 28 for me. I spent last night adding up how much all this was going to cost individually.

bluetoast 09-22-06 12:51 AM

Whoah whoah whoah whoah. What happened to the Max Fleischer cartoons?

there split between the bonus disc for superman and superman II

Supermallet 09-22-06 01:07 AM

O'Reilly?

In that case, I can live without the box set on HD DVD, since the cartoons will be on the Superman I and II HD DVDs. Sweet! Although that packaging would be awesome for HD DVD.

Whew, that's good news. If they're split according to production company switching then that would be perfect.

Also I guess it's assumed that the 4 disc Supes will include the theatrical and the 2000 cut?

ReduxGuy 09-22-06 01:26 AM

Wow. Just... wow.

That set looks downright phenomenal.

animatedude 09-22-06 06:24 AM

SRP $99.92?! that's like 60-65 online which is way way much cheaper than the UK 13-disc set.

ShaunoftheDead 09-22-06 09:53 AM

Where can you order this megaset online? And this is R1 right?

Yes, this is R1. Just keep on checking in your regular online stores to see if it shows up to order.

Shiv Shankly 09-22-06 11:23 AM

Has there been any indication from Warner about whether the Fleischer toons will be released separately? I just want those, I don't want any of the movies.

Sites aren't allowed to start prebooking until Sept. 29th.

No one's said it, so let me: this looks to be the best boxed set for a series of movies since FOX's Alien Quadrilogy.

GIjon213 09-22-06 12:01 PM

I just saw the good news! This is going to be at the top of my Christmas list if I don't break down and buy it earlier. This is awesome!

Shannon Nutt 09-22-06 12:11 PM

Hey guys,
Here's a sneak peek at a scene from the Donner Cut:

I would even go so far as to say this one probably takes the edge!

That's a pretty good scene, I can't wait for this collection!! ;)

ceeece 09-22-06 02:31 PM

I will be getting the Tin collection. It's just too cool to pass up!

Geofferson 09-22-06 02:37 PM

What a great scene...this Donner cut is going to be a real treat.

I agree! It's good to see Warner finally paying tribute to one of the most underrated films (and its immediate sequel) of the genre. It's a SUPERMAN movie fan dream come true.

Some more info from Digital Bits for you HD people:
http://www.thedigitalbits.com/#mytwocents

...the studio's press site indicates that at LEAST Superman: The Movie and Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut will be released on HD-DVD format on 11/28 (SRP $28.99 each).

And...

Note that the extras on the high-def discs will NOT be in high-def, and there will be no Bryan Singer commentary (standard or IME).

...which says to be, almost for certain, a Superman Returns Director's Cut (with the not-included Return to Krypton scene and a director's commentary) is in the future. Probably right before the sequel in 2009 (if that happens as planned), and probably after a Imax-3D Director's Cut theatrical release. I just hope the DVD release will be on standard DVD as well as HD-DVD!

Oh, I can't wait!

But man, Margot Kidder was an even bigger ham in that scene than she normally is.

shaggy 09-23-06 01:53 AM

WB has just set a new standard for boxsets. I can't believe there are going to be 14 fully loaded discs, cool packaging, comic, and booklet inside, an offer for all 5 full size movie posters and all for $99 suggested retail, lower than that on release day. All I can say is wow, thanks WB and take note Fox and Lucasfilm and give us something like this for the 30th Ann set.

bluetoast 09-23-06 02:00 AM

Shaggy you said it all.

Good call, great statement.

I would rank the Planet of the Apes "Ape Head" set above the Alien set...
