Well if you get the boxed set, chances are you won't have to deal with the cover art ;)

advdfreak 09-06-06 02:50 PM

If this is the FINAL dvd cover art, then I will take them out and reverse them showing the blank side cause it actually makes me NOT want to watch them! I've seen better porn cover art! This is almost as bad as finding out the Star Wars original versions were not anamorphic.

uhhhh...

From one freak to another...

I'd say you're going a bit overboard with that one.

Did they fire their graphics designer? If not, it's about time.

BuddyRevell 09-06-06 03:18 PM

I didn't think anything could be worse than the prequel covers......but no.

canaryfarmer 09-06-06 03:21 PM

Those are God-Awful.

Can't agree more. They look like bargain basement covers designed by the Brill Boys. Maybe someone should send them this link ....

Look to bottom of the page for real cover art.

The Valeyard 09-06-06 03:37 PM

Ewwwwww.

Why no Richard Pryor love on the Superman III cover?

freshticles 09-06-06 04:31 PM

Those covers look even shittier than the Star Wars covers. I didn't think that was possible. Another example of how useless Warner Bros is...

Another?? I'd say they're the most consistant and supportive production company of them all. I have more of their DVD's than any other.

Jeez...you guys need to start putting the discs in your players and stop licking the outside packaging.

Trust me. If I bought a Popcicle which had a turd for a wrapper, I wouldn't be licking the inside or the outside.

digitalfreaknyc 09-06-06 04:55 PM

The turd (in this case) has ZERO effect on the inside.

If I stared at cover art while the movie was playing, I'd be pissed. But since I don't...

The insert argument!

Whoever settled on those...I'm sorry, but they're terrible. Having a common theme between them is fine. Less is more--also good. But these look as if they were done by amateurs. Now I REALLY hope there is a 14-disc set with completely different artwork. Like the Matrix Collection.

Pictured for that 4-disc Superman release, I had something much more simple and elegant: A dark blue case with "Superman: The Movie" sunk into the cover, formatted with that glassy effect. Or, as an alternative, the cover art of the original DVD release surrounded by a thick, dark blue border. Man, could have looked so good!

I agree with Artman: Seeing those covers does not inspire me to buy the releases. I will do so only because of what's on the discs. But as I said, I'm really pulling now for something more deluxe, with artwork that's suitable.

--THX

Agreed. Actually, I'm shocked to find hackjob photoshop cover art as bad as this on a WB release. They've always seemed to do it right. Maybe they hired someone from the Columbia/Tri-Star or Lucasfilm art department.

That's what the guy said who sold me the Popcicle. To this day, I'm still brushing my teethe. Yucckk!

Supermallet 09-06-06 08:52 PM

If you think those covers are bad, wait until you watch Superman IV! ;)

I actually like how Superman II looks. And I find it funny that Clark gets his own separate spot on the Superman: The Movie cover. Where's Otis?

I asked the same thing when it was designed and no one seemed to care. It's pretty inexplicable to me that it has the blonde girlfriend of the old guy, but not Richard Pryor.

gryffinmaster 09-07-06 12:35 AM

Yikes. WB, hit the reset button and try, try again. :yack:

kevkev 09-07-06 01:25 AM

and the verdict from england is..... yuck.

my idead would be do have kept it simple maybe have a basic superman logo cover in 4 different colours like red, white, blue, gold or silver, some sort of metallic cover would be nice. not lenticular though they look tacky. this is one set of films where they dont need lots of stuff on the cover. wee all know what superman is.

Davy Mack 09-07-06 01:50 AM

Man, I didn't even recognize Hackman at first. Thought it was Spacey!
