Hopefully that cover is one of those covers that's intended just for the internet. You know, how some covers have bigger, plainer fonts so that it's easier to read when it's small, when in actuality the actual font will look nicer, not unlike the King Kong Extended Edition...

EDIT: Edited to add photos...

Article from Video Business still lists 14 discs:

The studio also is delivering the Superman Ultimate Collector’s Edition the same day. Prebook is Oct. 24.

The 14-disc set, priced at $99.92, contains Superman Returns: Special Edition, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, Superman: The Movie Four Disc Special Edition, Superman II Two Disc Special Edition and Superman III and IV Deluxe Editions. The set also offers 20 hours of extra content, including the documentaries You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman and Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman and Returns director Bryan Singer’s video journal.

The Ultimate box will be encased in a keepsake tin and includes a reproduction of the Superman comic book issue No. 7, a Superman overview booklet and a mail-in offer for five Superman theatrical movie posters.

They'll put out the 14-disc set now just to screw me.

1. When they said they *weren't* putting out the 14-disc set, I went to Best Buy to get the exclusive edition of the documentary. Of course, this was after the intial release week, so I had to pay extra $$$. Now they'll just toss it in the box as an afterthought.

2. With the news that some (but not all) of these films are hitting HD DVD, it only makes sense that they'll put everything in a huge box, so I can't buy the non-HD things individually.

It's my DVD karma at work. The 14-disc set is absolutely guaranteed at this point.

EDIT: Plus the HD DVD for Returns is a freaking combo disc? So, I'm going to end up with two standard def versions of this when I actually don't need any? Once again, my karma at work...

I'm going to have to resign myself to the fact that I'm going to have to buy the HD versions PLUS the boxed set to get everything I want.

You're not the only one! I did the exact same thing.

I wonder if the mail-in movie posters will be the postcards that came with the Best Buy exclusive?

It's true!

From Digital Bits:

As fans have been hoping, Warner has also officially announced the release of the 14-disc Superman: The Ultimate Collector's Edition DVD box set (SRP $99.92). Packaged in a special tin case, the set will include the 2-disc Superman Returns: Special Edition, the 4-disc Superman: The Movie - Special Edition, the 2-disc Superman II: Special Edition, the single-disc Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut, the single-disc Superman III and Superman IV DVDs, the You Will Believe: The Cinematic Saga of Superman documentary, the previously-released Look Up in the Sky! The Amazing Story of Superman and a disc featuring Bryan Singer's Video Journals from the set of Superman Returns. The case will also include a reproduction of the Superman #7 comic book, a booklet on the history of the character and a mail-in offer for all 5 Superman feature film movie posters.

Looks like the 14th disc is the video journals!

And here's info on the rest of the releases:

I wonder if all the Video Journals will be included? How many were there in the end - 27? The Best Buy DVD has 12 of them.

Huh....the bits have been updated a tad:

The Amazing Story of Superman and a Bryan Singer's Journals Extended Edition disc featuring all of the director's video web-logs shot on the set of Superman Returns. The case will also include a reproduction of the Superman #7 comic book, a booklet on the history of the character and a mail-in offer for all 5 Superman feature film movie posters. Here's a look at the box set's contents, all laid out for you to see...
Guess that answers my question.

Now to find someone to unload my Look Up In The Sky Limited Edition on.

Thank you!!!

Big sight of relief that I won't have to look at those shitty covers from the individual releases with the exception of Supergirl. The only thing that could piss me off about this release will be if this is a US retail exclusive or if they change something for the Canadian release.

If it's retailing for $100 then there's a good chance we'll see it at a good discount when it's released. Hmm, just Superman Returns and Donner Cut, or the whole thing? I think I'm gonna have to go with the whole thing...

EDIT: Looks like the same tin that was posted a few pages back! On the bad side, the HD-DVD looks to be stuck with the 2-disc Superman Returns art, bleh...

With the inclusion of Bryan Singer's video journals, we will get, in essence, a 3-disc set for Superman Returns.

I think I'm going to pick up the separate 2-disc release of Returns in addition to the boxed set. The content will be duplicated, but that embossed gold foil packaging sounds great. Besides, I did want it on my shelf by itself (so it could be grouped with its sequel).

This is a toughie. I wanna get the HD-DVD version of Superman Returns, but that tin looks great. I hope WB releases Superman I & II(both cuts) on HD-DVD. That would make it a lot easier to pass up that box set.
