WOW! what is that poster for Supes 2? Never seen it before...

jdslater1 09-10-06 04:48 AM

Looking at that tin a few pages ago reminds me of the upcoming Forbidden Planet Collectors edition tin.

It was the design used on the Italian (and Argentinian) one sheets.
May have been used elsewhere too, but those are the only two I know about.

Little too cheeseball for my tastes, but who asked?

Now that's a reason to pick a side in the war.

Where did you get those images? The Man Room? Talk about best cover art ever!

Doughboy 09-10-06 06:52 PM

I'm sure those are fakes, but damn I wish WB would use that for the HD-DVD releases. Of course, that's assuming these titles even get released on the format. We still haven't heard any confirmation.

How the hell could they make a cover for Superman III and not have Richard Prior on the cover anymore???

Ask youself, did having Richard Pryor in the film help or hurt the franchise? Now put yourself in the head of a studio marketer who actually wants to sell his product...

If you buy the boxset with both then you'll get all the features. I don't get why he'd think they'd replicate the same special features for both dvds.

Maybe because he was hoping to only buy the Donner cut and still be able to enjoy all the other S2 extras. A reasonable request, if you ask me. It would be cool if they would rleasse two versions (like Warner seems to love to do these days). One with just a single disc (for people who are buying the normal S2) and one with the same 2nd disc as the normal S2 release (for people who are only buying the Donner release).

Superman III was awful regardless of Richard Pryor. But putting the old lady, the old man, and his whore on the cover and not Richard Pryor is an insult to the man's memory.

JLB 09-11-06 09:15 AM

On behalf of auditors, consultants, and bank examiners across the world, please, please, please put Richard Pryor back on the cover, and maybe a few of those 1/2 pennies too........

Absolutely! As Leonard Nimoy once stated (in responding to rumors about Eddie Murphy being in a STAR TREK movie), SUPERMAN III's failure has little to do with Pryor's presence than it does on its own merits. The script, the direction, the score and the special effects are appalingly amateurish. Poor Pryor, Annette O' Toole and Reeve were held hostage by this flick. Only Margot Kidder managed to escape due to her severely truncated role.

And that happened because she had a big mouth about the S2 fiasco.

Son_Of_Zod 09-11-06 11:55 AM

It'd be a good cover if it showed Evil Superman using his heatvision on Pryor, and then showing him run. A lenticular cover perhaps.

Well, that was her reporter's instinct getting the best of her.

Honestly, having read what she said, I applaud her honesty. you'd never see that in hollywood now.

Damm! I didn't know the extent of the behind the scenes "drama" that occurred in shooting the Superman movies.
Thanks for the link.

Forget HOLLYWOODLAND. The Donner/Salkind/Lester/Brando/Kidder fights over the SUPERMAN movies are more dramatic than anything in the character's history.

Um... Richard Prior is more of a name than the 2 girls on the cover who are nobodys.. and I cannot remember the guys name...

Think also that maybe the African American community would rather see Richard that those 3??

I would say that Richard would sell more...

Cameron 09-12-06 09:35 PM

mabe the hope is that people will buy it not knowing Pryor is in it...

as opposed to, "No don't get the one with Richard Pryor, that one is awful."

which i think most people feel, compared to the first two

Rockybalboa 09-13-06 09:29 PM

3 was 1000 times better than 4! At least we got to see good vs evil Superman.
