So in theory, if you guys boycott these releases, foreigners will still be buying the US discs.

In your opinion, wouldn't that theory apply mostly to the general DVD purchasing audience, not more hardcore collectors?
Sorry to hear about the UK quality. Though, to round out the theory a bit, what about Japanese R2 releases? Though they may arrive later and fetch a loftier price than their R1 counterparts, serious DVD collectors looking for the superior release would most probably always pick the R2. R3 for instance will net you a DTS track more times than not than R1 would.
Then again, I suppose I'm digging my own grave .. in that, there are probably many more DVD fans than there are hardcore collectors .. in so much that the hardcore audience probably couldn't waiver the studios' attention to enough degree for this to change.

This will be a blind buy for me and I also expect a double dip sometime in 2006. It seems to be getting easier to predict double dips when you consider the greed factor for the studios. Certain titles scream "double dip" while others will suffice with a single release. This one certainly screams "double dip" if not a triple dip. It wouldn't surprise me at all.

Since this is Fox, it's a guarantee the 2-Disc All Access Collector's Edition... or the Ultimate Unrated Extended Cut (with 20 seconds of extra footage!!!) will be just around the corner after this one comes out.

Let's get right into today's news. First up, 20th Century Fox will release Mr. & Mrs. Smith on DVD and UMD on 11/29. Extras on the DVD (available in both anamorphic widescreen and full frame) will include audio commentary by director Doug Liman, a second commentary by producers Lucas Foster and Akiva Goldsman, deleted scenes and the film's teaser and theatrical trailers.

On a radio morning show yesterday (95.5 WPLJ NY) they were discussing the video release and said there were going to be both the PG13 and unrated versions coming out the same day, with the explicit love scenes restored on the unrated cut. They mentioned that both Angelina and Pitt were paid $2mil extra to film the scenes. I hope it's true.

Not trying to start a war. Just curious more than anything else. I look at it from the perspective of availability of the best DVDs, whether it be video/audio/extras .. whatever. Aside from the fact that some titles available elsewhere are not in R1. Perhaps another thread on this would be more appropriate.

I will go double-dipping for this one, saw it twice at the cinema. I like Pitt in this off-beat roles. Question for the DVD though, I think nearly of Foxs' recent big releases, be it 1 or 2 disc sets have had DTS, I mean AVP, man on fire, DAT they all had DTS. I don't think any disc was DTS on the 2 disc only.
Anyway I agree the other guy about the real villians being reintroduced.
