Mr. And Mrs. Smith --> November 29th!

Fox will release this popular box office hit on November 29th....specs to follow!

Dr. DVD 07-30-05 09:09 AM

My prediction: barebones with maybe and HBO feature and a maybe some commentary by Liman. Later(about June) we will get a two disc Collector's Edition with new commentary tracks, an alternate version with the villains re-instituted, a lot of making-of scenes, and an introduction to the new version by Angelina's adopted son. ;)

Maxflier 07-30-05 11:05 AM

Thanks for the heads-up,will definately be picking up this one.

onebyone 07-30-05 12:22 PM

I am excited for this and will get it for sure, I just don't know when. If it looks like an obvious set up for a double dip, I will wait, no matter how much I love this movie.

Big Worms 07-30-05 12:36 PM

Awesome! Can't wait.

Mr & Mrs Smith is doomed. Anyone else think so?

 Who was it that actually brought that up in the movie forum?

QuikSilver 07-30-05 05:24 PM

Wow that was fast. Might pick this one up.

Kal-El 07-30-05 05:47 PM

Dr. DVD. Talk about eating crow.

And if this has a decent amount of extras, I'm definitely buying it.

Geofferson 07-30-05 06:48 PM

I'll be picking it up as well -- thanks for the heads-up!

fryinpan1 07-30-05 06:56 PM

I am looking forward to this, but I just wish Fox would get their releases right the first time.

Jackskeleton 07-30-05 07:17 PM

It's not a matter of getting it right so much that it is getting the most bang for their buck. Fully expect this to be in two disc in any other region at release and only one disc here in R1. Then a SE to pop up down the road.

silentbob007 07-30-05 07:18 PM

There's got to be an "unrated" cut coming sometime featuring 13 seconds of new footage that was NEVER SCREENED TO THE MPAA!!! WOOHOO!

Mr. Cinema 07-30-05 07:22 PM

Why don't they make other regions double dip? Why is it always Region 1 only?????

matome 07-30-05 07:57 PM

Will pick this up as well as the unrated version that is sure to follow.

theneobez 07-31-05 01:08 AM

Excellent movie, I'll attempt to pick it up for the right price. As long as the transfer is good and there is an insert, I can't say I care much about all the other goodies.

Flynn 07-31-05 01:16 AM

Can't Wait. I loved this movie - thought the chemistry was perfect, and I could look at Angelina for two hours any day of the week.

Fox, you need to understand something: I heard about I, Robot getting a 2 disc overseas, so I didn't get the single disc figuring I'd wait for the 2 disc. Well, the 2 discer has come, but my interest has waned by this point. If I happen to see it used cheap down the road, maybe.

Get it right the first time.

Because the rest of the world isn't as gullible as us, perhaps? Just a guess.

Personally, I'm region-free and do my research, and will just buy the two-disc R2/R3 release right off the bat, and not have to worry about a double dip or waiting around.

WillyShatsWig 07-31-05 08:51 AM

US DVDs are usually released a couple of months before anywhere else, but sometimes there are very few extras available being only 4 - 6 months after the theatrical release. By the time the movie is released everywhere else the full range of extra features are usually available to add with the movie. Hence why some studios release a better version of a movie in Europe before the US, but recently after the US' barebones offering.

What he said ....

Actually, I can't believe that every serious DVD collector/fan isn't region free at this point. If R1 inventories took a lump from overseas sales .. just maybe the studios would pay more attention to this problem. Oh well .. back on topic ...

Unfortunately that is never likely to happen, as for every UK DVD that is better than a US DVD set, there are 10 US DVDs that are superior to the UK release. Add to that the fact that the US generally get titles a lot earlier and quite a bit cheaper, and you can guarantee that people will be exporting from the US from all over the world. So in theory, if you guys boycott these releases, foreigners will still be buying the US discs.
