Thank you for the explanation, DJ, and I believe Blue Underground may have had their spokesperson say this. They probably don't have any intentions of releasing it on DVD again...of course, he didn't say they won't be releasing it on BR/HD-DVD right?

None of my near-by Border have this, Any other B+Ms that have store inventories online?

Prices on Ebay have dropped below $100, but they are still too high for me. I just figured out you can search ebay by UPC number to find exactly what you are looking for.

Is there somewhere to see a complete list of the Hammer titles put out by Anchor Bay?

I'm still looking for a decent price on this set. The prices on ebay seem to have leveled out at about $50, but that is still more than I would like to pay. I've looked at the inventories of every Borders within a reasonalble distance, but none of them list it in stock.

I never even thought of asking them to try ordering it. Maybe next time up at Borders, I'll give it a shot.

Rasputin The Mad Monk (16x9)

Prehistoric Women (LBX)

The single and double disc versions of the original 20 titles are all definitely OOP. The last 10 still seem to be available. I recently picked up To The Devil A Daughter for around $6.

FYI... I find Demons Of The Mind to be woefully underrated. You don't hear much about that one...

I remember buying these at Media Play about 4 years ago for $3 each.

Dracula: Prince Of Darkness (LBX)
Satanic Rites Of Dracula (LBX)
Lost Continent (16x9)
The Reptile (16x9)
Viking Queen (LBX)
Vengeance Of She (LBX)
Quatermass & The Pit (LBX)
Quatermass 2 (4:3)
Plague Of The Zombies (16x9)
Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires (LBX)
Rasputin The Mad Monk (16x9)
Prehistoric Women (LBX)

The SRP was about $30. Some are WS. They were released in 1998 or 1999.
Take a look at MY COLLECTION for details on each title.

Went in to Borders today to pick up the score for Proof when I remembered this thread, so I decided to check for it and found a copy! Maybe these are not as scare as people think. I ended up buying it blind, but I think I'll like it.

For anyone on a real tight budget, I picked up about a year ago maybe, Satanic Rites of Dracula for $1 at WalMart (one of those bargain slim pack jobs). The quality is not great and it is a full frame presentation, but $1 vs. way more makes it good enough for me - not really a huge fan. Another release will come out down the road most likely. It almost always does.

speedy...

the public domain print is the edited for U.S. version and as you mentioned also full frame. The problem with it coming out later is that blue underground now retains the rights to the hammer library and has stated that they have no plans to release these again for a long time. Get it while the getting is good.

I remembered seeing a copy of the Dracula: Prince of Darkness/Satanic Rites of Dracula double feature at my local Borders, so I went back last night and picked it up. The also had the Frankenstein Created Woman/Legend Of The Seven Golden Vampires double feature in stock. I'm not sure if I should open the Dracula disc or leave it sealed and attempt to eBay it down the road. I am a fan of Hammer horror but some of the Hammer ouvre is just not all that good. Either way, I wanted to grab it before it was gone.

I noted that my Borders also had a few of the Transformers box sets, which are also OOP.

They are still getting stock from somewhere. I bought my Border's only copy a month ago and just bought the one they stocked in its place a week ago. www.borderstores.com shows a copy has been stocked a 3rd time but I'll leave that one to someone else.

Lustig has said that he has no plans to ever release those titles to DVD again.
Is there anywhere online that I can read BU statements regarding their Hammer licenses and decision not to release these again on DVD? Additionally, would such a resource or anyone else be able to provide an explanation for such a decision? It seems pretty asinine to me, but I'm biased because I'm a huge Hammer fan.

Incidently, give the rarity of the double feature Hammer DVDs, I am very thankful I took the time and effort to acquire all the Anchor Bay Hammer individual releases.

Also, am I wrong, but I thought that Anchor Bay didn't loose all their Hammer licenses. Afterall, on their Coming Soon page they list The Anniversary as the newest edition to their Hammer Collection.

Hi Paul, wlecome to the forum!

I don't have a link to the Lusting's statements regarding the Hammer movies, but I did read them a while ago. If memory serves, he said that he didn't think that there was much of a market for re-releases. Everyone who is a Hammer fan picked the movies up when they were first relesed, there wouldn't be enough people wanting to double dip to make new versions profitable.

I have to say that I agree with him.
