Hooperman (1987): Thirty-minute dramedy with John Ritter. Two seasons were produced (42 episodes). I'd think there would be some interest due to the star. Sadly, it only has 222 votes on tvshowsondvd.com, and will likely never see a DVD release.

Maximum Bob (1998): Excellent series based on the Elmore Leonard book of the same name. It was a replacement series for NYPD Blue for only a seven-week run. I'd buy the set, but tvshowsondvd.com only shows 247 others would; i.e. no release.

Fantasy Island (1998): With the 1977 version due out soon, I hope there's a demand for the updated (and much better, IMO) version. However, tvshowsondvd.com has only 477 votes. I'd happily buy the 13-episode run if it's released.

There is a loophole in the copyright law that allows for the production and selling of copyrighted movies/shows that are not being produced by the copyright holder. Strange as that sounds. Not sure of the particulars but it's been going on since the early days of vhs. If the studio releases the title than whoever is making and selling the title has to cease. I'm sure the source material has something to do with it too. It seems most of the stuff is from 16mm prints, using a 35mm may be prohibited. Also you can sell a 16mm print on ebay but 35mm prints are not allowed. That's how all these companies that specialize in hard to find movies stay out of jail. I've also noticed that when a title is released on dvd legitimatly, the dvds from 16mm analog prints don't disappear, so The Digital Copyright Act may play a part in all this. Even if this stuff is "borderline" legal they are still bootlegs of sub-standard quality and best to be avoided.

I think the Gunsmoke release is just a collection of episodes spanning the 20 year run of the show to mark the 50th anniversary as opposed to the beginning of season set releases.

The NEW Leave it to Beaver. I remember watching it on TBS in the late 80s. Another vote for You Can't Do That on Television. As far as the reference to Cold Case, they surely made the agreement for the songs in the dvd release. If they secured all the music for Freaks and Geeks, then Bruckheimer can get it for Cold Case. My concern is that studios present shows in their HD aspect ratio with 16:9 transfers if they aired that way. Non anamorphic widescreen is an insult. When watching newer shows like Revelations, I feel the sides are so cropped off.

Oh man, what about Siskel and Ebert??

I would actually be interested in seeing some of those. They included their review on the Pulp Fiction disc and it is fun to listen to them bantering about a movie.

Wizards & Warriors - just so I can see if it's as cheesy as I remember it from my childhood. Lasted all of 8 episodes, and came out when I was a major Dungeons & Dragons geek.
I have all 8 episodes. Yep, just as cheesy, but in a fun deliberately cheesy way... not a "we tried to make a serious show but were too incompetent to pull it off" way.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 season 0.

And speaking of Mystery Science Theater, does Comedy Central ever show reruns of the seasons it owns?

I don't think Comedy Central owns the rights to the show at all anymore, but if they do, they at least don't have the license for the movies.

Not to disbelieve you, but that sounds kinda crazy; can you elaborate on that at all?

Robbery Homicide Division - Very good cop show from Michael Mann and starring Tom Sizemore.
The Handler - Joe Pantoliano was great. Co-starred Hill Harper who found a home on "CSI: NY".

There are a bunch of shows that will never make it... the ones on my list include:

- Glory Days (A family/thriler series that aired 10 episodes on the WB about a novelist that returns home after 10 years of being MIA)

- The Net (based on the Sandra Bullock Film)

- Young Americans (The Dawson's Creek Spin-off that lasted 8 episodes durring the summer of 2001)

- The Opposities of Sex (a dramedy about the first three males to attend an all-girls public high school, starred Chris Evans, Milo Ventimaglia, and Allyson Mack before they where known stars)

- Eat your Shorts (a Nickelodeon pre-teen show about a summer camp)

- Rugrats

- Bird's of Prey

- Reunion

And there are a bunch others, but these are the ones off the top of my head.

Well, they can't put shows on DVD that weren't made in the first place.

SALUTE YOUR SHORTS will never make it to DVD nor will HEY DUDE and ROUNDHOUSE.

Just went back and re-read the first few pages of this thread... amazing how many of the "nevers" have now been released or announced!

You and me both. I find it so depressing that this show isn't even on anyone's radar as far as shows being considered for release -- WHY?! It's one of the best shows ever to have aired on network television.

There was that brief TV Guide statement early last year saying it would be out last September, and then immediately retracted. Does anyone know who owns the rights to it?

How about The Nutt House with Harvey Korman, or I'd love to see the original season of SNL come out as full episodes with music guests.
