I say "Kate & Allie"

Any other guesses?

I'd like to see Orbots and the 70's Spiderman.

And of course, the Batman TV show.

How about ....

E/R

.... set in a large hospital, with George Clooney.

Luis Avalos - Dr. Thomas Esquivel
Corinne Bohrer - Nurse Cory Smith
George Clooney - Mark "Ace" Kolmer

Lynne Moody - Nurse Julie Williams
William Schilling - Richard the orderly

nemein 05-31-05 10:38 PM

Space Above and Beyond is one of the first that comes to mind.

Valerie/The Hogan Family

Witchblade. My friend is convinced it will never see the light of day because all the dvd companies hate him.

JesseCuster 05-31-05 11:24 PM

It's not really a series but the world will explode before the TV event that was the Star Wars Holiday Special sees the light of day. It wasn't even released on *VHS*. Everyone involved in it denies it ever happened,

Sorry, Fish Police, but it ain't gonna happen...

"You Can't Do That On Television"

Who do you think's in the burgers? Duhhhh, I heard that...

cultshock 06-01-05 12:15 AM

If you include all the short lived shows that have been broadcast over the years (running less than a season), let's face it, a good 90% or more tv series will never make it to DVD (OK, I pulled that percentage out of my ass, but good god, do you realize how many tv series have been produced over the years). For every classic, well liked or at least cult show, there are 9 others that have completely fallen into obscurity and will never be seen again.

And this is one of those shows. I still can't believe that someone actually thought to make a small press b&w comic into a prime time tv show.

DVDude! 06-01-05 12:17 AM

Manimal (never gonna happen)
The Phoenix (too short, but I remember it well)
Tales of the Gold Monkey (hopefully soon)
Brimstone (where is this set dammit?!?)

Unless there is just zero interest in a show, I don't write anything off too glibly. I never expected to see Clarissa Explains it All come to DVD, so who knows? You Can't Do that on Television mights see the light of day yet. There are always plesant surprise announcements for TV shows, and if there is a fan base out there, there is likely a potential for a release.

Some shows from the 70's based off movies worry me, though, because the movies came out but they didn't cross market the TV show with it. Like Alice (Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore came out last year) and then there is more recently Paper Moon and Harper Valley PTA. I rather would like to see the TV series in addition to those movies, and there may be more I am not thinking of. How about the old Clasablanca TV series?

Now, we may still get Alice, but I kinda wish both Paper Moon and Harper Valley PTA got special edition treatments with bonus disc(s) including the series. Neither series was long lived, so the set could easilly be 2-3 discs.

Another one we will probably NEVER see is the Clerks live action pilot.

Old shows from the 50's that were not saved to tape will also never see the light of day.

Police Squad! Should have happened long ago, but probably never will.

dx23 06-01-05 12:36 AM

The "I Love the 80s" and "I Love the 70s" series from VH1. Too many licenses to acquire.

wolverine1028 06-01-05 12:46 AM

Wonder Years (too many issues with music rights)

Tom Banjo 06-01-05 01:23 AM

Dark Shadows (90's version)

My Mother the Car

There's this obscure little series from the 1990's called "Friends" that I doubt will ever get a legitimate DVD release.

Actually, I'm more surprised that it hasn't already been released on DVD.

Let's face it, if such notoriously bad films as Plan 9 from Outer Space and Robot Monster can be released by Image, then Rhino or Something Weird should put out My Mother, the Car: The Complete Series (one year, 30 episodes), a show considered by numerous television critics the worst sitcom of all-time.
