Most of mine are used, the only one I paid full retail for was Robocop, from E-Bay (back when it had just gone OOP):
Charade - 28.49 at Best Buy (after it was OOP)
Samurai I - 10 bucks at a pawn shop - I plan to get the box set, though.
Beastie Boys Video Anthology - 14.99 at Wherehouse Music
The Unbearable Lightness of Being - 17.96 at DDD (after it was OOP)
L'Avventura - 19.99 at Hastings (used)
Chasing Amy - 10.79 at Best Buy
Royal Tenenbaums - 9.99 at EB Games
The Bank Dick - 14.95 at Wherehouse Music
Silence of the Lambs - 22.98 at Wherehouse Music
W.C. Fields: Six Short Films - 14.95 at Wherehouse Music
Wrong Men and Notorious Women box set - 73.10 at DVD Planet (after it was OOP)
by Brakhage: An Anthology - 14.97 at Wherehouse Music
Hiroshima mon amour - 21 bucks at Wherehouse Music
Dead Ringers - from a local record store for 25 bucks
How to Get Ahead in Advertising - same record store, 25 bucks
Sid and Nancy - same store, 30 bucks
Henry V - 17.99 at Wherehouse Music
Seven Samurai (first pressing) - 18 bucks at Wherehouse Music
Time Bandits - 17.99 at Wherehouse Music
The King of Kings - 28.99 at Best Buy
Hopscotch - 12.24 at Wherehouse Music
M (first pressing) - 12.24 at Wherehouse Music
The Rock - 5.67 at Gamestop (I think I paid about 20 bucks total for The Rock: CC, Robocop: CC which I gave to a friend, and the Evil Dead II tin...
)

Overstock.com's $9.99 deal -
Spartacus
All that Heaven Allows
Black Narcissus
L'Avventura
I Know Where I'm Going
That was a great sale - missed out on some others, but I'm not complaining.

Made the rounds of the used shops today, made out pretty damn well, I think.
$8.00 Armageddon (already have it, but at this price, I figured I could trade it) (Pawn Shop)
$11.99 The Night Porter (SunCoast)
$15.99 Monty Python's The Life of Brian (Sam Goody)
$15.99 High and Low (Sam Goody)
$15.99 Ikiru (Sam Goody)
$15.99 Red Beard (Sam Goody)
$15.99 Throne of Blood (Sam Goody)
Looks like someone dumped their Kurosawa collection. I saw Dreams and Ran there as well, but didn't get those.

I found Brief Encounter in the used section at a downtown Blockbuster, but the disc looked like no one EVER watched it and it came with its insert. It was $8, that was nice.

I managed to get Seven Samurai for free from Reel.com (remember them?) using a complex deal that involved a $25 coupon from GiftCertificates.com and placing the order though RocketCash. This was five years ago.
Such deals were fairly commonplace back then. Ah, the good old days...

Of the DVD's that aren't in pristine condition, I have yet to find any DVD that I couldn't polish out to nearly pristine. In any case, Hollywood and MG have excellent return policies for used DVD's, though I rarely have to use them.
And I got the 3-DVD Monterey Pop Festival Criterion for $7 at Hastings the other day (in a 3 for $21 sale).

Some of you that have been around for awhile might remember back when reel.com sold DVDs, and had endless supplies of $10-off/25 coupons. Some of you might also remember the "Grand Illusion" snafu that resulted in multiple copies of that DVD being sent to people who ordered one. Having purchased "Grand Illusion" with said $10-off/25 coupon, I got three copies... which I was able to sell/trade for other high value DVDs. So, it's hard to say exactly what the dollar value came to, but the upshot was that I paid nothing for "Grand Illusion", and got at least one additional DVD just for playing the game. Probably adds up to something like 2 Criterions for the price of $0.00.

Free copy of a legitimate, sealed This Is Spinal Tap someone traded me last year for a copy of a book I wrote. I almost felt guilty. It put me within one of having them all (Salo, naturally, being the last).
So, if anyone wants to trade me a Salo...

Umm..I haven't really gotten in any good deals. I was able to order Flesh for Frankenstein and Blood for Dracula from DDD before they sold out. I got Sid & Nancy from an online dealer in some strange way. I picked up a few other DVDs that are OOP now right as they went. I guess the best deal was getting the Silence of the Lambs from DVD Talk's own Treasure Chest thread.

On the rest, I traded titles in my own collection that I no longer wanted:
Also, note that Hastings has since changed their policy on trading 4 for 1. They still do it, but the title must now ring up in their system as more than $3 (most basic, non-SE releases will ring up for $1 in their system, so you'll likely only get in on that deal by trading a nice SE set, a boxed set, a new release, or some comparable item).

I got Rushmore CC in a two pack with Hi Fidelity at Kmart for $18. Also, a couple years ago I bought a Sony HTIAB for the bedroom that Best Buy advertised with 5 free dvds. When I bought it, they told me it came with a mail in coupon for the dvds that was inside the box . I got home, no coupon. I called the store, they said it was advertised in error, that a different model was supposed to come with the dvds. They told me to come back to the store, they would give me the 5 dvds at store level. The clerk went and found 4 of the dvds it was supposed to come with ( CTHD, Vertical Limit, The Sixth Day, and Fools Rush In) , but they were out of the fifth title (can't recall what it was) so the clerk said I could chose any single disc title in the store as a replacement, so I picked out a copy of The Third Man CC.

Picked up Man Bites Dog for 12.95 used. Not a great deal but about the only Criterion I've found used since I've moved to this hick town(No offense to any Chattanoogans out there).
I traded 2 dvds for Robocop a few years ago.
Picked up Beastie Boys for $17 a few years ago.
The rest of them I've picked up new. In reference to Reel.com - those were the days.
Get paid to play trivia.

FREE - Yojimbo (was marked $5.99)
$6.99 - Sisters
$9.99 - Running Man: CE (Not Criterion, but good nonetheless)
FREE - Picnic at Hanging Rock
$9.99 - Time Bandits (this was after the promotion, just a couple of days ago)

I guess just Hoop Dreams for $18 and Straw Dogs for $19 (from Best Buy and the most recent DDD sale, respectively).
And what exactly is this mysterious Overstock deal everyone is mentioning? Also Reel.com?

- Hard Boiled for $19.94 at Reel.com after a $10 off $25 coupon.
- Unbearable Lightness of Being for $14.99 at ValueAmerica.com when they had a 50% off sale to celebrate their opening, (plus quite a few other DVDs at the same time).
- The Killer for MSRP at SamGoody.com a year after the DVD went OOP.
- Seven Samurai first printing at CompUSA $19.99 when they discontinued selling DVDs (temporarily, as it turns out).

just got hard boiled for 10 bucks at blockbuster last week...also picked up hamlet criterion and mr deeds goes to town for the 3 for 25 deal.
robocop for 2.99
Not a single Gamestop or EB i go into ever has a criterion. I assumed they must have a film lover working for them, but after meeting the staff i have thrown that out the door.

So since they will hold a DVD for you for a week and you can take a DVD for 3 days and there are 95 holds on Short Cuts then I should be able to check it out sometime around 2016.

I also recieved a duplicate order of THE BATTLE OF ALGIERS from Amazon, so that was a nice deal. I turned it in for store credit at Best Buy at C-Mas.
Then during the time of super cupon/discounts/baragain days, etc I got Silence Of the Lambs CC for a whopping total of $.05.
Also picked up STRAW DOGS used at Gamestop for like $6.

I worked at a Video Store, and scored some Criterions used for sale when they weren't rented out for a while.
Luckily, Since I live in a very hick-ish town, most of them had never been rented once.
I got them 2/$15 dollars Canadian.
I picked up:
Andrei Rublev
Shock Corridor
Naked Kiss
I Know Where I'm Going!
The Horse's Mouth
How To Get Ahead In Advertising
Solaris
Stray Dog
Sullivans Travels
Variety Lights
So 10 Criterions for $75 Canadian, which turned into $60 Canadian because of my Employee discount. So I guess I got ten 6 dollar Criterions with their original cases, inserts, and in perfect condition.
