I just checked over at yesasia.com, and it confirms a DTS track. We'll have to wait for more info on this, I guess.

EDIT: It seems that those over at dvdtherapy emailed yesasia regarding the disc, and they said the DTS notice would be removed until further notice. Yet it still appears on the site.

I'll be picking this one up. I'm a boxart geek though- this doesn't do it for me.

Yep. That's what I heard too. But they're also saying that some other regions (PAL, unfortunately) are getting DTS. We'll just have to wait and see.

I already own it, it is a very nice package and item, a definite improvement over the previous release, well worth the upgrade for Scott fans, fans of the film, or anybody who wants to own this wonderful film.

I am not one to go into detail about comparing releases, but the extra film time and the video/audio have been, to my eyes and ears, much improved.

Overall, not much else to say, other than to go and buy this, I think you won't regret it if you really are a fan or an admirer of the film.

I'll hold out on buying this until I hear whether or not the new scenes improve the film. I don't care about the extras.

Can't wait to get it! My original disc was lost to disc rot a couple of years ago now so it was just another incentive to get this new edition.

I'm not sure why there haven't been many reviews considering what a big release it is. The new issue of Premiere raved about it and here are a couple of online reviews, both very positive:

A friend of mine recently bought an early copy in NYC last week and said it's one of the best DVDs ever made. Can't wait.

I am really pumped up about this release despite the fact there is no dts. From the menu shots that dvd answers has, it does look pretty classy.

Yeah, the region 2 artwork and all is definitly a little better, but I think the region 1 release is fine just by itself.

I prefer the original Region 1 artwork, but this new artwork, IMO, is better than the Region 2 one.

I still don't know if I'm getting this.

What's the deal with disc rot? Is this common for this title? Looking at my disc 1, there's like a whitish cloud/fog over it. I don't know if it affects playback as I have yet to watch it since noticing this.

I prefer the R2 art but the R1 release comes out sooner and I got it cheaper!

From: Right now, my location is DVDTalk, but then again, you should already know that, shouldn't you?
I guess I'll buck the trend--I honestly think the R2 artwork is crrraaapp! Five years into Bush as president and finally something comes along again to make me feel lucky I'm an American!

That was a brilliant statement

On that note, I think the R2 packaging is leaps and bounds better looking that ours

I think the R2 artwork is more bold and striking but I hate the way the text is laid out. The R1 artwork is more standard but I like the black box look. I would have liked something closer to the simple but elegant book cover style of the LORD OF THE RINGS boxsets.

Ultimately, content is king and in that regard, the R1 seems to be superior if, for no other reason, that it also includes the original theatrical cut.

But please, let's be real, who in their right mind would use THIS one for the theatrical cut when there's a FANTASTIC DTS version already out there.
