Nice. Going to forward that to a couple of friends. Got to level 5 and 43,000 odd points before I ran out of stamina.

Pretty good, I got up to level 9 and got 64,450 points, pretty good for a first timer!

Gizmo 02-25-07 10:45 PM

So...close. I hope I can find a store that puts this out early. I didn't even notice that the Revenge of the Nerds TV Pilot is included...sweet!

UAIOE 02-25-07 10:51 PM

TV pilot?

I don't think this movie, or the tone of the movie, would do very well on TV.

Hence why the project ended in the pilot stage...

Lastdaysofrain 02-26-07 09:26 AM

Although they did make two made for TV sequels. It went the way of a few of the 80s sex comedies where it became more and more kiddie friendly (Police Academy anyone? The first one was fairly racey and it ended up as a cartoon show!)

Bluelitespecial 02-27-07 09:55 PM

So I got this in at work today and the box set with all four films is $19.99 when it comes out next tuesday. With Borat, nerds, and South park season 9 coming out next week this will be expensive.

Are they all in thin cases or normal sized DVD cases?

I REALLY wanted to watch this today...too bad Best Buy did not put it out early.

Bluelitespecial 02-27-07 10:42 PM

I wish i didn't have to wait until next tuesday to get it. But yes they are in the slim cases.

Damn. I really wanted the first to be the 'Panty Raid' edition with slipcover and everything...Oh well.

Yeah, I'm getting "Borat", "South Park", the "Nerds" box set, "Fast Food Nation", "Let's Go To Prison" and "Chinese Democracy"

Just kidding about that last one but I would have been buying it if Axl wasn't crazy.

On my first time, I got up to level 12 with 128,250 points. ;)

...same. May pass on Borat for the eventual BR release.

DVDFreaker 02-28-07 12:25 AM

Damn, they are in slim cases? That is too bad, I ain't buying it, I don't like movies that have slim cases, the only movie that I have with slim cases is Ace Ventra, I will just buy the special edition and keep the flipper for Revenge of the Nerds II

Lastdaysofrain 02-28-07 08:36 AM

Peopel would not buy a set because of Slim cases? That's a bit werid man.

You get three more movies for about an extra $5 but not if they are in slim cases?

Alright.

Anyway, any reviews of this box set up online yet anywhere?

Don't get me wrong, I don't mind slim cases if it is for TV shows (I have a bunch of them) but for movies, ehhh no...I don't know..it is just me, maybe somebody else feels the same way but however, if it does have a improved transfer for Revenge of the Nerds II, I will buy the boxset

dsa_shea 02-28-07 10:31 AM

At this point I would take slim cases or similar cases to the Blu-ray discs for all of my dvd movies. It would be nice to be able to squeeze my collection of a 1,000+ dvds in about half of the space. The Blu-ray cases, or even HD cases for that matter although I don't like the color, are more compact but still provide a very readable spine to display your dvds. As for the Nerds set I am there to get it on day one.

Altimus Prime 02-28-07 11:57 AM

Level 30, 207,250 points.

I'm the same way as you. I hate slim cases for regular (stand-alone) movies. Even for TV sets I'd still prefer multi-disc keepcases (like the Nexpak VERSApaks). But they're better than digipaks, at least.

TheKing 02-28-07 09:18 PM

OK, I found this at Virgin Megastore today, and decided to pick it up as I didn't see it in any of the ads next week. Anyway, so here's the skinny on the set:

Part I is still edited when Lewis finds the house. It does look like they cleaned up the transfer a bit, with specks and dirt removed from the previous version. So it does at least look better. There are six deleted scenes, and commentary by Director Jeff Kanew, Robert Carradine (Lewis), Timothy Busfield (Poindexter), and Curtis Armstrong (Booger). And the pilot really looks awful. No doubt why it wasn't picked up...

Part II is the exact same as on the double feature set. In fact, it has the same Disc ID as the older disc, and the date stamp is from 2000.

III and IV are both Full Frame as expected, Single layer discs, and each feature a trailer. IV also contains a alternate take of one scene that was originally 3-D. I guess they filmed it once with 3-D in mind, and once without.

Overall a nice set, and nice to have 6 days in advance

domino harvey 02-28-07 11:08 PM

Revenge of the Nerd IV was originally shown on FOX during their mid-90s "3-D Week" promotions. I can't believe I remember that

skywalker8 03-01-07 08:44 AM

King, is Gilbert in the making of featurette?

Don't feel too bad. I remember that, too. You had to get the little kit from 7/Eleven, I believe with the smell-o-vision for Married...with Children.

Here's who's in the featurette:

Robert Carradine (Lewis)
Timothy Busfield (Poindexter)
Curtis Armstrong (Booger)
Jeff Kanew (Director)
Ted McGinley (Stan Gable)
Julia Montgomery (Betty Childs)
Andrew Cassese (Wormser)
Larry B. Scott (Lamar)

No Gilbert, No Takashi, No Goodman, No Cromwell. It does look as if they talk about Edwards, as there are clips and photos shown, but he's not participating. It is over 38 minutes though.

Gizmo 03-03-07 12:13 AM

So looking forward to this...

skywalker8 03-03-07 09:28 AM

awesome. Too bad about Anthony Edwards though. guess he's trying to pretend that he was never in this movie.
Weird that Takashi isn't in it - Didn't that actor recently do special features for a Shout Factory TV show release?

Some people forget where they come from and never look back. It is a shame that some people take life and things like this too serious.

Evad 03-03-07 03:19 PM

Since the box set is slimcases, does the single movie come with a slipcover?

JB7 03-03-07 03:38 PM

I remember reading somewhere (probably this thread) that it would have a slipcover.

Gizmo 03-03-07 03:46 PM

Not the DVD inside the boxset if they are all slimcases though.

jonknight86 03-05-07 05:58 PM

TheKing, how is the commentary track, I'm dying to listen to it.

I pre-ordered (or my friend did) off of Amazon and won't be getting it for a few days.

DJ_Longfellow 03-06-07 09:51 AM

So, who all has this? I see the single movie is $14.99 while the boxset is $19.99. I may be tempted to get this since it's my favorite movie, but not sure if parts 2-4 are worth $5 even ;)

Wildo1966 03-06-07 10:00 AM

I just picked up the box set at Walmart for $19.96, the first one alone was $14.96 so 5 bucks more you get 2-4, the set is definitely worth it! The single edition of #1 was in a regular dvd case, the set are all slimpacks...

DJ_Longfellow 03-06-07 10:44 AM

I was checking EBAY, and it appears that the Double Feature disc still sells for $10 or more....which, would basically be a wash for me. I know it's OOP, but who really wants the Double Feature still?

Evad 03-06-07 11:06 AM

Does the #1 in the slimpacks have the same cover as the single edition?

I am keeping the double feature still for Revenge of the Nerds 2, I already ordered Revenge of the Nerds Special Edition

I have the double feature, and thought the second movie was just awful. The first is a classic.

Are there any reviews? I'd like some info in deciding if it's worth a double dip.

The thing that really swayed me into a purchase was the SE has the pilot of the TV series they wanted to do....Cool Extra!
