Revenge of the Nerds?

OK, so there was a thread a while back asking about 20th anniversary editions of Karate Kid and Revenge of the Nerds.

We got the Kid. Any news about the Nerds???

I see the review for the current flipper disc with ROTN 2 is pretty favorable. I did see it at a local Best Buy recently for $14.99. Is there much point in waiting for a new release of the first film, or is waiting going to be pointless?

ROTN is a movie I must add to my collection. I'm tired of seeing it edited and chopped up on TV. The last time I saw it - I think on UPN - it was just absurd what they did with the party scene where UN comes to the house. Not only were things edited out, scenes actually repeated! A lot! It was ridiculous!

I would LOVE a 20th anniversary or any nwe edition. The current one is ok.....nothing too exciting.

This is like my FAVORITE movie, so I hope they release a new DVD

ROTN is one of my favorite comedies as well. I would definitely double dip for an SE or Anniversary Edition with some nice extras.

just a heads up but they have that ROTN flip disk packaged with Porky's I and II flip disc for 14.99 at my local costco store. 4 cheesy 80s flicks for 15.00 bucks is a great deal.

I just picked up the ROTN double feature at Best Buy.

Thanks for the Costco tip, but I don't have a membership there and have an aversion to paying to shop. Just don't like the concept. And Porky's doesn't interest me as much as ROTN, anyway.

Even though I used to be a Costco member. My membership expired last year and I haven't gotten around to renewing.

I feel the same way about Porkys. I've seen it and I think I've seen Porkys II but I don't care to own either.

I hope ROTN is as good as the review indicates.

I hope it's not a case of an older review with lower expectations giving it high marks. Seems sometimes what happens is a new release of a movie comes out, it's praised for having such improved video and/or audio while slamming the quality of the earlier release, even though the earlier release got high marks at the time.

Most Costcos now have a collection of Fox catalog title three-packs for $18... Of direct interest to subscribers of this thread is the Porkies 1 & 2/Revenge of the Nerds 1 & 2/Bachelor Party package.

Revenge of the Nerds isn't going to look any better on standard DVD. For a film of it's age and statue, it looks good.

ROTN does look okay on DVD, but the soundtrack really needs some remastering. It's pretty poor.

I believe they are doing a remake of it that's supposed to come out next year. I figure any "Special Edition" would probably come out then.

This is easily one of my all time favorite films.

Are the going to get Johnny Knoxville to play Booger? This is going to be a damn shame of a movie like the Dukes of Hazzard.

Warning- there's a couple shots CUT from Revenge Of The Nerds where they find the house for rent- they pick up the "For Rent" sign and bring it back to the gym, then they all go parading back to the house. Supposedly it was cut because there was a real phone number on the sign. I know this movie by heart so I was furious- picked it up on release day before I heard about it too!

I would love to see a full-blown special edition gift set. Wouldn't it be nice if they included a pen-set and glasses? And maybe a mini-shirt like it was done with the Seinfeld set

I think Fox will do something similar to what Warner did with the Police Academy collection. Fox could put out a box set of all 4 movies w/the 1st movie being a loaded Special Edition while, the others have a few features, like an ongoing documentary or something. As of right now the only way to get 3/4 is to buy the VHS copy from Fox's "Selections" Catalog.

I checked it out at IMDB and apparently one of the writers/producers of Freaks and Geeks in on writing credit.
