YES! I was so excited to here about the SE of the first movie...but then the BOXSET?!? Hell yeah! I actually enjoyed Part 3! Time to sell my Combo DVD I have now.

It is going to have closed caption

DJ_Longfellow 12-21-06 07:54 AM

Excellent news.....hmmm, will we ever see a HD version ;)

Tenacious D 12-21-06 10:16 AM

Cool! Count me in for the SE and maybe the boxset if there's not too much else that week.

LordStaxxus 12-21-06 11:49 PM

Part IV better come with 3-D Glasses, as it was first broadcast!

Oh wait, it wasn't REAL 3-D, but that "clear/opaque" one. Still...

critterdvd 12-25-06 11:14 AM

I really really liked part 4 (part 3 was kinda hard for me to sit through though), but with an MSRP of only $29.99 for the 4-pack, I'll definately double-dip on the first two for the extra features and the fourth film! WOOT!

Is this a regular release or are they using it to tie-into the remake?

DavidH 12-25-06 11:25 AM

My guess is the first movie will have the same transfer as before but better compression.

The Nerds remake has been cancelled. Whether it will resume at a later date seems to be anybody's guess.

I'll be getting the set. I've never seen the fourth, but enjoy the first three.

Yeti4623 12-25-06 03:54 PM

I'll get the set, because I think the 2nd one is decent, and the other two are harmless. But I wonder if it's going to be that version of 1, with a couple of weirdly cut scenes? I hope they go back to the original version.

There was really nothing weird about the cut scene on the "Revenge of the Nerd" DVD.

It's a shot where Robert Carradine walks past a "for sale" sign and it has a real-life phone number on it. The number is in use and they obviously didn't want the owner to be overwhelmed by people eternally calling it thanks to it's presence on a DVD.

Still, I think altogether cutting the footage was the wrong way to go. They should have obtained the number and offered to get the owner a new number. If that wasn't an option they could have either simply kept the footage and blurred the number or CGI a "555" prefix over it. That would be incredibly affordable for Fox. It's stuff like aliens and dinosaurs that costs big bucks on CGI. I'm sure your average person could afford the costs of simple cosmetic CGI of this nature.

Yeti4623 12-26-06 12:26 PM

I don't have the original DVD version, but I have the Fox Slections VHS, and it has another scene cut from it: The "Why do they call you booger?" scene, plus right before that, they cut out the dean saying booger. I don't get that. Is it the same on the DVD version?

Lastdaysofrain 12-27-06 09:02 AM

The "why do they call you booger" scene is in tact and present on the DVD

Someone at Fox has a sense of humor...

Get OUT! Is that the coverart? That is hilarious! I think we all knew the 'catchy' slogan should be 'We've got Bush', but they actually USED it! Please don't let this be fake. Ive already traded in my Revenge 1 and 2 Combo DVD in hopes of this.

Quack 01-08-07 07:04 PM

"What is a Pie"

"Hair pie"

"Ooohhhhhhh"

HAIR PIE......lol I can't wait for this release!

Fucking awesome coverart!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Vipper II 01-08-07 07:12 PM

Okay, where in the hell did this new way of advertising "Special Editions" come from? And who the hell is approving this shit?

Patrick Mirza 01-08-07 07:13 PM

Yes, it's official cover artwork straight from Fox.

joliom 01-08-07 07:22 PM

Wow. They've got balls using that coverart & title.

Sabrett 01-08-07 10:20 PM

Nice coverart. I hope the art for the box set is nice also...

UAIOE 01-08-07 10:47 PM

rotfl
For the name of this edition.

For the bad photoshop job. Is it just me, or do his hands and head look out of proportion? It's like he has flesh colored "hulk hands" on or something.

That and how are you supposed to read a watch that's on the side of your arm that faces away from you... not easily.

Cover art for the collection

Gizmo 01-08-07 11:51 PM

The Collection art sucks. Why not use the VHS oxset coverart instead (All 4 nerds on Mt Rushmore).

mijang 01-09-07 02:39 AM

The artwork and slogan for The Collection sucks. The artwork for the original sucks, but the slogan is golden. I love this movie -- it has to be one of my top five movies of all time.

Josh-da-man 01-09-07 03:13 AM

I am SO getting this. rotfl

(The sequels I can live without, though.)

DVDFreaker 01-09-07 04:54 AM

I hope the box set have the regular cases and not the slim ones

BuckNaked2k 01-09-07 01:55 PM

Dear God, that is just soooooooo hilarious!!!

UAIOE 01-09-07 03:03 PM

Atomic Wedgie Collection?

Hopefully someone can come up with some better artwork for this disc later on.....no hulk hands.

joliom 01-11-07 01:36 AM

I wonder if Wal-Mart will carry it with that cover.

Yeti4623 01-11-07 02:11 PM

How embarrassing. Well, if I wasn't already planning on buying the boxset, this would've certainly given me a reason to.

CinemaslaveJoe 01-11-07 02:59 PM

DVDJournal.com has announced a March 6th release date for the "Nerds" special edition, but there's no mention of the DVD supplements.

Yes there is, read a few pages back and you will see it

BuddyRevell 01-11-07 05:03 PM

Oh man that cover is hideous but the SLOGAN makes it work. HAHAH. Freaking hilarious.

DJ_Longfellow 01-12-07 09:44 AM

Wow, what to get...the first is like my favorite movie of all time. However, the sequels were PG13 abortions really. But, the price seems right at least....

Will we ever get HD NERDS?

Geofferson 01-12-07 10:46 AM

Lame cover art indeed. I'll still be picking it up though. ;)

bigjim25 02-17-07 11:43 AM

Sorry to disappoint some of you but it's looks like FOX has changed the name.

Damn, that sucks but I am not even suprised though

JB7 02-17-07 01:59 PM

Not surprised the wording was changed either.

Found this over on another board, its a ROTN Game. Good way to kill some time. ;)

Gizmo 02-18-07 12:31 AM
