I was in Best Buy a little while ago and even though it was $64.99, I couldn't walk out of the store without it. Can't wait to dive into it.

I'm hoping Costco will get it cheap.

I just got my copy today from DDD on street date. I was able to pre-order it during their Warner box sale for $46 shipped.

That's good news for me since we live moderately close to each other and we pre-ordered at the same time. Hopefully, mine is waiting for me when I get home.

I don't know when they shipped yours but mine went out last Tuesday, and with media mail it's hard to predict actual delivery dates. Hoepfully it is waiting for you when you get home.

I just checked and mine shipped the same day. Now I should get off DVDTalk and run home to watch them.

Has anyone seen this at their local Sam's Club yet? I've gone 2 days in a row now looking for it and no luck. I asked the guy working in Electronics today and he had no idea whether they were gonna stock it or not. He said he'd leave a note for the woman that stocks the DVDs tonight and I told him I'd return tomorrow to talk to him again. I'd be surprised if they're not going to carry it because my Sam's has had all of the recent WB boxsets, including Errol Flynn, Doris Day, Battlefront Europe, and the new John Wayne. I want to pay cash for it. So, my only other option is $65 at Best Buy. I know Sam's will have it cheaper, though.

I'd say just bite the bullet and get it at BB. I sorta regretted paying that much there yesterday. That is, until I dove into the box. What a great collection of movies (all blind buys for me). I'm three films into the set, and I have yet to be disappointed yet. Great, gripping films that are still less than 10 bucks each at BB when you do the math.

Not at my Sam's either. Very surprising since they've carried virtually every other WB box from the last couple of years. Perhaps it's just a distribution issue.

If you have a COSTCO locally and know a member, you might try them out. I've seen reports of this box selling there for about $52. Best Buy's box set prices have been very uncompetitive as of late.

No Costco or BJ's here unfortunately. I'm going to try Sam's one more time today and if they don't have it, I'm going to bite the bullett and buy it at Best Buy. At least I'll get Reward Zone points for it.

You won't regret it. I was wondering if it was smart to buy it at BB the other day because I figured I wouldn't get around to watching it for a few days, so why not order from DDD instead? But once you get into the set, it's hard not to keep going. I'll probably polish it off by tomorrow night. Definitely one of the few sets out there worth paying a little more to have it RIGHT NOW.

You could get it from DeepDiscountDVD for less than Best Buy.

DOH!

Started writing this after post 62 and then started reading 63 at the same time.

The new Premiere has a short review of it.

I couldn't afford the whole set so ordered four of them through CH buy-one-get-one-free deal to fulfill my membership. Got Bad Day at Black Rock, Fury, I am a Fugitive From a Chain Gang, and A Face in the Crowd. Couldn't decide if I wanted that or Blackboard Jungle, but I'll get that eventually.

What's been people's favorites so far out of this set?

My two faves are:

Advise and Consent and A Face In The Crowd.

I've watched Bad Day..., Fury, I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang, and Advise & Consent so far. I'd say it's a toss-up between Fury and Chain Gang right now with the nod probably going to Chain Gang. It's such a powerful movie and by the end, you really feel for Muni's character. To think taking up an offer for a free hamburger could lead to so much grief.

They've all been great watches, though. A&C was a bit confusing at first, but once the plot got rolling, you got into the characters and couldn't wait for the resolution. Fury's a perfect example of how people with too much time on their hands coupled with word of mouth can turn normal citizens into blood-thirsty monsters. I've never been a big Tracy fan, but his metamorphisis in the film is incredible. Bad Day is good, although I'd say it's my least favorite of the four I've watched.

A Face in the Crowd or Blackboard Jungle's up next. Looking quite forward to both of them.

I guess you gotta love the consistency of media mail being unpredictable.

Well, I tried Sam's one more time yesterday, but no dice. I talked to a different salesperson on the floor and he even looked it up on their inventory sheet and we couldn't find it. The troubling thing is that they had cleared a nice empty space in between the new John Wayne and Doris Day boxsets that wasn't there the day before. After that, I went straight across town to Best Buy and plunked down the 65 sheckles. I just hope Sam's doesn't have it next week when I go there.

I watched Bad Day at Black Rock last night and thought it was pretty good. The only one I'd seen previously was I am a Fugitive from a Chain Gang. And that was when I was a kid 20 years ago on TV. I'm really looking forward to watching the rest of them.

Anyone notice that The Americanization of Emily disc has an error on the back. It says the the Commentary is by Drew Casper when it is really by Arthur Hiller?

that's weird

Casper has had some good insight, but the sound of his voice makes me cringe at times....

I watched this movie over a bowl of Trix this morning and was constantly surpised by it. I guess, I just assumed that it would be a more standard romantic comedy and it certainly started out that way, but I kept getting knocked off balance when it got serious. There is some delicious black comedy in it and I thought the writing was very good. Being such a sucker for Garner and Andrews certainly helped too. I'm looking forward to making my way through the rest of the set.
