This now replaces the mono re-release of Jaws as the best DVD news in 2005!
Yes, basically. I pronouce it "Bo-vair" (so it rhymes with 'no air'), but at least you're in a recognizable ballpark-type area. I pretty much answer to anything, including the more common "Boys-Vert"
Cool, I'm more of an audio type. If I can hear a name a couple of times, I can pronounce it forever. I remember having trouble with simple words in gradeschool when they used the little long and short symbols over them and such. Originally Posted by bboisvert

I'm guessing we're in for a wait as I image Lynch probably just brought this up when the DVD was recently announced. I wonder if Universal would consider a stopgap release of a 16x9 theatrical now, then the director's cut by itself down the road.

Well get this... after years of saying he would never revisit Dune, at the 11th hour director David Lynch decided that he wanted to be involved in the new DVD after all. Which means that when it's eventually released, not only is the DVD going to include the original theatrical version of the film... it will include a brand new "director's extended cut" edited by Lynch himself! No kidding.
Well, I guess that means that Lynch needs work. More film-related work than you, I'd bet. What films have you worked on lately?Originally Posted by Mike Lowrey

Well, considering that he hasn't done a true film since '02 in Darkend Room, then I think my statement stands...but thanks for your welcomed comment. However, I didn't know that it was a requirement to work in the film industry to be a member on a DVD forum.
Maybe I could ask the same of you. How many films have you worked on living in Astoria, NY?

You have no clue what is going on in Lynch's professional life. You don't know what he's working on. You don't know what projects he may be producing or financing for others (such as his daughter's next project). All you can do is read IMDb. And, based on that, you've decided that you're able to determine the level of activity in a filmmaker's career. You know how to fire a up a web browser and speak about things you're clueless on. So what else has Lynch got to do? Like I said, probably more than you.
When you get your big film career rolling, maybe I'll start caring about what you think of the progress of other filmmakers' careers. Until then, your ignorant views of other people's lives does little to contribute to the discussion.

Obviously, you don't get it. Your imaginary one aside, I didn't crticize anyone else's career. That said, I have been involved in the production of a number of upcoming feature films and video releases of past features since I have lived here in Astoria. Again, what does being a member of a DVD forum have to do with working in the film industry? Am I not worthy posting here because I don't work in the industry? Gimme a break. I don't see comments like yours here when millions bash Lucas for what he does. Originally Posted by djtoell

As McCoy once said to Spock, "Do I have to die to discuss death with you?"

I didn't say you couldn't post here. I only questioned your position to be criticizing the development of the careers of others where a) you're ignorant of their careers, anyway, and b) you're not in a position to criticizing anyone's film careers at all. Despite conventional Internet wisdom, having net access and a keyboard doesn't put you in a credible position to criticize things of which you are completely ignorant and uninvolved.Originally Posted by Mike Lowrey

Am I not allowed to post in response to your posts? Etc. *snore*

I got that right away. People who do give a shit don't so casually and ignorantly dismiss the careers of others. And obviously you don't get it. I don't give a shit.

Director's cut? Fuck me gently with a chainsaw...
Maybe he'll end up doing one for "Twin Peaks Fire Walk with Me," with all of the cut footage. As unlikely as I thought that to be, revisiting "Dune" seemed even moreso.

Apparently dj isn't aware of my and others recent light-sided commerotery on here.
I just hope that when this Dune disc is released eventually that it has some special features.

Although I am suspicious that this news is true, this is the greatest thing I could have hoped to hear. I'm as giddy as a schoolgirl.

On the David Lynch forum (linked from Dugpa.com), a member of Davidlynch.com said that David Lynch denied it in his chatroom on March 29.

This seems fishy to me. "smells like yesterday's diapers". To put it another way: highly unfuckinglikely. This is one of the problems with the Internet--tons of information, who the hell knows if it's true? Funny how Digitalbits doesn't cite a source. I will believe it when Lynch confirms it.

It's too early for April Fool's, but it seems almost too good to be true, don't it? Wishing, wishing, wishing...
