But maybe it'll be a flipper, like they did with Schindler's List... Oh man, that would be BAD!

Whatever, I'm getting this one when it's out. They shouldn't screw it up, so I'm not worried.

Universal being the "cheap and easy" incompetent bastards they are, could very well screw this up. Hopefully, it's a flipper with only the extras on one side. But, to be safe, I'll definitely hold onto the current version just in case.

According to http://www.dvdanswers.com/index.php?...5929&n=1&burl=

2.35:1 anamorphic widescreen along with English, French and Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1 tracks. English, French and Spanish subtitles will also be provided. Extras will include four behind the scenes featurettes (entitled The Story, Cast and Characters, The Look and After the Filming), some 'Moments with Martin Scorsese, Sharon Stone, Nicholas Pileggi and more', a Vegas and the Mob featurette, a History Alive True Crime Authors: Casino with Nicholas Pileggi featurette and some deleted scenes. As far as we know, no audio commentary will be included.

I was hoping or a Scorsese (or cast member) commentary on this.

Well, DVDEmpire are now showing this as dual sided, dual layer. Oh no!

Stupid Universal.

Is it so tough to press two single-sided discs?
A dvd-18 is just as tough to press...
And double sided discs just seem so... cheap.

The film would still be spread across two disks though wouldn't it. The problem is those Spanish and French 5.1 soundtracks. I just can't accept a film being disrupted just so that someone can watch a 5.1 dub in another language to what the film was originally recorded in. Either let them make do with subtitles, or release another disk with just the Spanish and French soundtracks in 2.0 Surround or something. They could either include this extra disk in the same pack, or release it separately. After all, they're taking the time to release a separate full screen edition of this Anniversary Edition.

Oh god I hope the movie isn't split across two sides. That would be somewhat of a downgrade.

Dual sided, dual layer is DVD-18, which is loosely equivalent to 2 DVD-9 discs stuck back-to-back.

It's better to have 2 DVD-9 with full disc artwork than to have 1 DVD-18 that can get greasy fingerprints easily.

If the news of a dual sided, dual layer disc is true, I will definitely be holding on to my current version. I tend to get fingerprints on dual sided discs, even though I am extremely careful.

Dual sided disc sure does not sound like a Anniversay Edition. That would be so cheesy to do that.

in a word: YES! this is a must have movie for those who are into the genre. much, much better than Scarface.

regardless of the quality of the new set, people who don't yet have this movie are in a good spot: either a anniversary set with some extras or a price drop on the original version. personally, i don't think the original transfer is as bad as many people make it out to be. sure, it could use an upgrade but i don't find it distracting as some people do. don't let that keep you from buying an older version of the release if the new set doesn't live up to expectations.

Glad to hear it'll be a 2-disc and yes, worth a blind buy!

Well, Schindler's List was also an "Anniversary Edition." If it's one disc, they may just have the special features on the other side.

"Flip the disc over for additional bonus features."

Looks like a one disc to me.

Sucks.

i dont understand the big deal of the DVD being dual sided as long as the movie is on ONE side of the disc and the extras on the other side.. I actually think this would be better than having 2 separate discs.

Weren't some copies of Schindler's List 2 discs instead of 1 dual sided disc? If so hopefully that will happen with Casino AE

Not if you have parkinsons disease or other diseases that make it tough to hold things. It becomes very easy for a dual sided disc to become completely scratched or dirtied on the top of the disc.
