So, is this just everything in one box? No space savings, additional extras, or other reason to buy this if you already own the 5 sets?

I just picked up season 3 today (Sams Club for 59.88+tax). I think i'm going to pick up the other 2 over the next few months and leave it at that. I'm not really seeing the point in buying one huge box with all of the seasons.

The article says that you can figure to save $90 or more when it hits the streets. I'd love to be able to pick up the entire series in one swoop for around $200.

Is that realistic?

Yes, Its 189.64 at Dvdempire:

http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...tem_id=1178787

Coupon code:
GENERAL - 1187189 - Save $10 off your next General order of $100 or more. Not valid on Used or VOD. Expires 8/15/06.

=179.64 + postage. I went with the 5.65 expedited shipping since it is alot of discs. I guess at roughly 36.00 per set its a good deal. Its around 200.00 at DDD. I guess if you wait for the next 20% off codes and it would be around 160.00.

I wonder if it will be one big box with 28 thin-paks... that would be awesome.

I'm glad I held off on these. It seems like more and more shows are being repackaged this way.

If its packaged in the thin Pak then I will get it. I started to get the collection when it came in Jewel cases but ended up selling it on ebay 5 years ago so it would be nice to get the entire collection at one shot but not in standard keep cases. I don't think HD would help in the case of TV so old so this DVD release should be it.

The current Definative sets are all in thin-paks, and this is probably just a box with all the other boxes inside.

This show is milked to death. The five collections from long ago, the newer 'season by season' sets, and now a big box set. I have the old five box sets that were in no chronological order (and most of them seemed to be theme related somehow per disc), and I think they were just fine. I'd love to have this new large box set with the remasters and all but I think with all the other things I could be buying on DVD with my money, it would probably just be a bit of a waste. This is going to be fantastic though for those who don't own these already. Kudos to you who want this show and have been waiting for something like this. Great series. I just hope the box set is packaged in a very nice presentation somehow.

Update:

Its now 170.68 at Dvdempire:

http://www.dvdempire.com/Exec/v4_ite...earchID=415838

For today and tomorrow with 10% off thier price promotion thing. It does says In-Stock titles for the promotion but this 10% off to as are other pre-orders titles from what i have seen.

Update:

I guess that was a mistake as it didnt last long at 170.68 price. My order still says open.

Wow. Amazon wants 450 for the original Definitive releases, 180 is a bargain. This is one of those series I was always interested in, but didn't want to start the investment. One of the reviews, however, says "Im so glad I paid THAT much money for discs that arent even compatible with my dvd player. So now if i even want to watch them, Ill have to go out and buy a dvd player thats compatible with the **** DISCS!"
Is there a technical difficulty with the disks?

I believe this is it .....

http://www.amazon.com/Twilight-Zone-...?ie=UTF8&s=dvd

It's not listed as "Definitive" which may be why you couldn't find it.

DVDEmpire has now jacked the price up to $209. Glad I ordered mine when I did.

I still say it's a pretty safe bet that this set is nothing more than the same 28 slim-pacs that come in the season sets. Having bought all five seasons individually, I can say that none had any floaters, so the hubs do a good enough job.

If they come in Thin/Slimpaks as the standard Definitive Releases do, I think you should be happy about it. They seem to hold the DVDs better than most of the normal cases do. I picked up all 9 seasons of the X-files (new releases) recently which come in Thinpaks. 54 DVD's total = No Floaters. Just ocurred to me, probably because the discs don't have a lot of room to move around.

Twilight Zone Complete Definitive Collection 174.66 shipped - Overstock 15% off

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Just ordered the Twilight Zone - The Complete Definitive Collection for 174.66 shipped. Overstock is having a 15% off sale for the next few days until 9/21. As some of you may know, orders comprised solely of dvds are not discounted, so in order for the discount to work, you have to order one non-media item. The cheapest thing I could find is a ball-point pen for 99 cents. (They're sold out of paper clips.) I originally was going to hold off buying this until the next deep discount dvd 20% off sale, but I can't wait and you never know if it will be sold out by then or if they will raise their prices. I also posted this in the DVD Talk bargain section.

Overstock 15% off

Sku # Product Name Shipping Quantity Total Price

993496 Comfort Mate Grip Ballpoint Pen, Medium Point, Red Ink (Each) Ground 1 $0.99

10381288 Twilight Zone - The Complete Definitive Collection (DVD) Ground 1 $201.02

Subtotal: $202.01
Coupons: - $30.30
Shipping Charges: $2.95
Tax: $0.00

Grand Total: $174.66

*15% off coupon will appear on the billing page before submitting the order. Maximum savings $125. This offer applies to U.S. orders only and excludes orders comprised solely of products from the "Books, Music, Movies & Games", "Auctions" and "Travel" categories. This coupon cannot be combined with any other offer or coupon. Offer ends September 21, 2006 @ 11:59 AM MST.

Much appreciated. You just saved me $17.00 and I'm going to be canceling my other order which was a pretty good deal as well. This is one of my all-time favorite blast from the past shows. Thanks Dude.

Now that the complete collection will be shipping soon, has there been any word on any price-reductions for the existing single-season sets? I still need 4 and 5.

The cheapest I've seen those is at Overstock.com as well ..... $59.91

http://www.overstock.com/cgi-bin/d2....cid=60488&fp=F

if you use the pen trick from above and 15% off link, you'll get $9.00 off that I guess, so you'll be paying around $50.00

No actually if you own the first set, sell it and pick this up! There is a night and day difference in quality. Now if your like me and own the defenitive sets then there is no reason to double dip. But the first release sucked period!

Just received confirmation my order was shipped from Overstock.com today. Really stoked. Haven't seen most of these since I was a kid. Only time I was ever able to catch a few episodes was when they would run the Marathons, and usually didn't have time even then.

I haven't got my shipping notice, yet. What type shipping method did you choose? Regular or Fast? The only thing I got from my order so far was that lousy red ink pen.
