The V2 discs arrived in jewel cases instead of cheap-o-paper sleeves that tend to leave some slight mark on the discs. No worry about damage at all.

Im in no rush to get this now. The excitment of BTTF on dvd has long since gone so i'll just wait for the HD version (or the new rumoured special edition)

Universal really dropped the ball on this one.

Does anyone know if there will be any difference in disc 1 in the new set?

I'm a bit confused, they would re-release the set why? I found the extras on the existing set sufficient...

I'd like to know as well since I never sent mine in. I wonder if they'd still replace them considering all the time that has passed? Thanks in advance!

Because nobody payed attention the first time, I'll repeat myself:

Does anyone know if there will be any difference in disc 1 in the new set?

No difference. This is strictly a price drop and being the V2 discs for BttF 2&3.

I called the number about three weeks ago. I received a pre-paid envelope about a week later to mail the two DVDs in. Today (12/13) I received the v2 BTTF 2 and 3 DVDs in sealed jewel cases. The cost to me was $0 and YES they are still replacing them. Like others have said, why buy the set again when you can replace the disks for free.

Good luck!
Tim :-)

Does anyone know if this is gonna be a 1-Disc or 2-Disc "Franchise Collection" release? The price seems to fit in with most of the other Franchise DVDs

The packaging appears the same as does the listing of the special features on retailer sites so I don't believe so.

I did decide against buying the new set, so I got un-lazy and shipped my BTTF 2 and 3 yesterday. In the original replacement disc thread, there's an address to send to if you don't want to call the # and wait for a pre-paid shipping envelope to arrive. You just have to send a letter saying why you want to exchange them:

"I am exchanging these, aware that you are offering replacement discs for the incorrect aspect ratio versions of these films. How Universal can even begin to sell something like this knowingly in the mainstream, is pretty awful."

So I got my two cents in, and am going to get my replacements.

I'd like to applaud whomever at Universal finally pulled the trigger to let retailers sell the good version of this Trilogy. I refused to buy a defective product, so my waiting has finally paid off.

You know I bet you the one that is being discontinued is the one that is out now that does not have the corrected disk on it. That is why you are seeing these two dates. Which would make sense since the re-release with the corrected disk comes out in Jan 26.

Is the frameing error just in the widescreen version or does the fullscreen version have it too?

If that's true, I'll just hold out till next fall and see what's on the new set. If it doesn't appeal to me enough to shell out the extra $$$, I'll just pick up the 27.99 corrected re-release set.

So 27.99 is the retail price and we can expect to see this set selling for around 20 bucks on its rerelease day?

This post just pisses me off. I personally would rather buy it for less money and get the fixed discs, then buy it for more money and have to send the discs in the mail and wait for the corrected ones to come back. Don't put in your two cents unless there's some knowledge behind it.

But those of us that bought it and got the replacements (not only free but only took a few weeks) have been enjoying the DVDs for 2 years.

Plus it appears that some (if not all) of the new boxes are missing the booklet. Now the studio says to call their customer service about getting the booklet.

Plus Plus some replacement discs say "V2" and others don't (but might still be corrected).

It's possible that it's become more of a hassle for those that waited because they didn't want to hassle with mailing in a couple discs.
