I went and got one at 2:30pm and there were only like 2 or 3 left with no displays for them, not even set up in the normal 'action' section where there were many WS and FS of the 2 discer.
Anyone know why the sparseness?

While the reversal of the "Widescreen"/"Fullscreen" color coding on the cover from the first film is a shame, I have to say buying the DVD today was a surprisingly pleasant experience, and not for the low price and VH1 bonus disc...
No. It had to do with one thing:
It was 11 AM or so, so there weren't many people in the store
(Future Shop, the same as Best Buy here in Canada), but there were at least ten people who had the DVD in their hands, waiting in line to pay for it, and young and not so young alike, every one of them had the Widescreen version.
I almost said "Thank you" out loud to everyone for making the right, no, the ONLY choice, but that would have made me look like more of a fool than I generally am, so I left quietly, comforted to know that those people got it right.
The same thing happened with the Star Wars DVDs, so I know it could not have been a fluke.

Arrgh, the Best Buy on 6th Ave & 23rd Street (Chelsea) in Manhattan NYC sold out of SM2. I got there around 5:30 PM. They were all out. I saw some ppl with full screen copies in their hands but nothing anywhere else. This is also the same Best Buy that broke street date and was selling them last Friday. Except they were $19.99 cuz the $14.99 price didn't go into effect until today.
Oh well, I guess that I'll have to pick it up tomorrow.

I was set to get the gift box until I actually saw the thing. Same size as a regular DVD... which means the comic book reprint is a mini-comic book
It looks really cool, though... but I was hoping it'd be the same size as the first gift box.

Sony's commercial strategy is working. I bought both the superbit and the giftset. Well the film is worth it, that's for sure. And I do like it when giftsets come in 'normal' size. Much easier to store with the rest of your dvd's

So it is similar to how Sony released the Charlie's Angels 2 Superbit - no slipcover, no typical plain silver design of the superbit coverart.

Went last night to Future Shop and picked up the widescreen version. I wanted the Superbit but they told me that they didn't receive any copies of them which is unfortunate since they would have sold them for $22.99 Canadian for 11/30/04 only.
