Who said it has to be any fun? Most of us are just looking for storage.

For the last 2 years or so I have taken most of the films that only have 1 or 2 films and put them in a 2 disc case and make a custom cover for them. saves space and keeps them together for easy reference.

Not too shabby of an idea. Too bad we don't have a custom DVD cover art website to rely on anymore to help us out with those covers.

I still have a few double covers on my site which you can check below... I had ALOT more double covers but they were lost when DVDCA went down. Hopefully if it EVER comes back, they will still be there.

A better idea: don't buy sequels.

The only thing worse than having to by another shelf is not having any room to put it. Soon I'll have to decide between keeping a couch and adding a new shelf.

Wouldn't this actually take up more space? You'd have the double boxes on your shelves, and then you have to find a place to put all the single boxes that you aren't using anymore. Plus, unless you just have a ton of sequels, it's not going to save that much space.

Stick the bookshelf behind the couch

At least you gain the use of the top shelves if you aren't leaving any space between the bookshelf and couch.
