I found a new cool way to save some space on my sheleves. I bought a bunch of 2 disc dvd cases at office depot and put all my sequels in them. For instance Barbershop 1 and 2 are together in one case. So are blade 1 and 2. I just take the first one and put the cover inside the 2 disc case. Then I put the first disc in the case then the sequel. Looks very cool and saves space too. Now I don't throw away the other case it just goes into storage in my attic. Cool idea or what?

I'd much rather buy one of those nice spinner racks that holds a crap load of dvd's.

not really. first, are they the slim doubles? if not, you aren't saving much space at all. either way...then it just looks as though you only have the one movie. i'd much rather see two cases to tell me i have two different movies. plus, i have put 2 covers on top of each other and it is a very tight fit, too snug. also, isn't "Blade 1" a snapper, so how do you get the cover art from that. i like seeing all my movies in all their cases.

That wasn't really a thread crap. He was simply answering the original poster's question about whether or not it was a 'cool' idea.

I also don't like it. To each their own, I guess, but like others here, I perfer to see each movie on my shelf.

This may be a good idea if you are desperate for space, but for the majority of people who enjoy showing their collections, it doesn't make too much sense. To each his own I guess

I've done this before, but only for certain double-dips (T2 Extreme / Ultimate, etc).

The only one I have done this with is Superman 1 & 2. Since it is basically one story and I don't own 3 & 4. Found some really cool coverart for 1 but 2 was always lacking, hence putting them in the same case.

I combine DVDs into multi-disc Alphas when the discs coming Digipaks or are miniseries or Star Trek series. In a couple of instances I've added the CD soundtrack to the larger keepcase - "Psycho" & the R2 "Basic Instinct" are exanples.

I'd rather see the disks individually, always nice to pick up a single movie from the shelf

Interesting, but my Blade 2 is 2 discs and that would make 3 discs if I wanted to combine the movies somehow.

I do have 2 discs that I transfered into 1 box, but that was American Pie and the Behind the Crust Disc (which I considered an eye sore)

Anyways, I think you should do some remodeling and make it so your attic is climate controlled with nice bookcases where you can keep all your DVDs together (seeing that that's where you put the extra cases).

Actually it's a great idea.

I've been doing that for awhile. With a little over 600, I'm just plain running out of room. I have both entertainment centers filled plus my Star Trek TOS and MASH in a binder. So I've started combining any chance I get. I had a few 3 and four discers lying around that helped. I'm going to buy some 5 and 6 disc cases for a few sets like Pink Panther and Die Hard.

Sell what you don't need... it's always worked for me.

If you have to spend money on cases (and go through the trouble of taking out covers, et cetera) why not just buy a shelf? Better yet, make a shelf!

Yeah, building a shelf is a whole lot easier than sliding a piece of paper out of a plastic case.

I've got one of these and it holds 80 single-wide keepcases (5 shelves x 16 keepcases).

Fortunately, I got mine at an auction for $5, but I'm thinking about buying another or two eventually.

When you are talking about my collection, no. When you have to do it 100 times, yes.

But that isn't any fun...
