Yes, the Holiday Special is bad. No two ways about it (although the cartoon is good).
However, it should be released for its historic value, and i mean that sincerely. Besides Boba Fett's first appearance -- How much film is there of Harrison Ford as Han Solo or Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker? Three movies. This program contains the rest.
Can anyone imagine movie stars from the biggest blockbuster of the last few years doing a holiday special now? It would be like Ian McKellan, Sean Astin and Elijah Wood doing the Hobbitton Holiday special. (Hey.... not a bad idea...)

OK, the Holiday special sounds so bad, I have to find a way to watch it.

Still, I'd buy it if I ever saw it on DVD.

I think the worst part about the Holiday Special is the gay holographic circus that Lumpy (what the hell kind of name is that??) watches. I had to fast forward past it because it lasts at least 5 full minutes.

The bad thing is, I bet we never get the entire seasons of these cartoons. Ewoks I can live without but Droids was kinda cool and it actually followed story arcs. I have homemade season sets that I made from a friend's video tapes but their quality lacks. However, I would rather have slightly pixelated/blurry season sets than the 2 pristine hackjobs.

Sounds pretty stanky to me.

Wait?? R2 and 3P0 had different masters between Episodes III & IV? I know; no need to explain it to me.
Thank goodness Mr. Lucas hasn't announced a Special Edition of the Holiday Special with added song and dance numbers, enhanced special effects and his perceived objectionable materials removed.

But damn fun to watch in the right mood......
Or stoned.

I will probably just netflix the ewok flicks as I have not seen them since they were shown on TV originally & I can imagine they are pretty terrible. I never really liked the ewoks cartoons but I do remember watching quite a few of the Droids cartoons when they first came out. I was a little old for Saturday morning cartoons by then but I did think they were interesting. I would have probably picked the Droids set up if it were the entire series.
