Most owned DVD - the Matrix: 145 owned.
Considering that everyone owns a copy of the Matrix, does this mean that DVD Spot only has 145 members?
I'll use them if they have an easy way to import discs from Profiler, but otherwise, I don't see any need for this site. It doesn't provide any features that DVD AF or Profiler don't already offer - now, if they had Guzzlefish type stats (although done better) and were fast and kept updated, THEN they'd be useful.
But right now, why use DVD Spot? What's it give you?

They are fast, they are kept very well updated. It has some features that the others don't: Last 3 bought, Last 3 watched, a seperate watched list, etc. There is any easy way to import from profiler. Export your collection to a .csv file and then upload that to DVDSpot. You might have to do a couple times if you have a large collection.
It might only have 145 members, but it is growing fast. It just opened up less than a month ago.

AS far as stats go, it's Most Active DVDs and Top Rated DVDs lists provide some cool insight into what the latest trends are.

Not that I'm complaining, but it is time-intensive. And because I don't know how to submit a picture to go along with the DVD information, most of my non-R1 collection is box after white box with "no cover."

To replace guzzlefish, I have been messing with dvdspot as well and am pretty impressed so far. They are missing a lot of R2 titles, but on the upside, they process new additions very quickly. Like one of mine was added within the hour. I am not joking. After dealing with guzzlefish, that seemed like a miracle to me.

If they'll import a CSV from Profiler then I may as well keep it updated. Maybe they can add all of Guzzlefish's features and pretty much make them obsolete.
Wouldn't hurt my feelings any.

Thanks... a little on the annoying side wrt having to fill in all fields (I don't give out my name/location/name of people I loan stuff too unless I can help it) but those are all things easily worked around
WRT Guzzlefish I'm getting "name not found" errors from Netscape so it doesn't look good.

Maybe, just maybe, they are updating the site and it will be up in its new improved version this evening or tomorrow.
Or, to be pessimistic, it could be gone for good.

The last two days I get the "Web site is temporarily unavailable in DNS" error message from guzzlefish.com. Either this is the update we've all been waiting for or it's guzzled it's last fish. ;-)

I just heard from a reliable source that Dave pretty much handed the site over to CNET, and that the CNET programmers are working on updating the site now. Hopefully, it will be back up soon, and the updates will be more timely. After that, i'm sure there will be more changes, but as to what they are, or might be, i have no idea

Since the temporary demise of guzzlefish ive been at DVDspot putting my collection up there and i like it pretty much, i think i might stick there and forget about guzzlefish altogether. Its just a pain in the a$$ having to input your whole DVD collection all over again, what a process.

Well, I see Guzzlefish is up again. It's 8:32 CST on 8/16/04. Guzzlefish is definitely my least favorite of DVDPF, DVDAF, and Guzzlefish. But at least my collection is still there (even if it is incomplete!)
