*AHEM* I could think of someone who might be willing to take if off your hands. :)

I hope they’re with tins and everything.
One last time

YES THEY HAVE TINS.

(Sorry, that wasn't just directed at you.)

I got $50 on E-bay for Crockett ... something like $30 for the other. I was really surprised about the former; somebody in Italy wanted it really badly. And that was just with buy-it-now; no idea what it might've gotten to if the auction had lasted (might've been lower, though).

And I hope the Nightmare Before Christmas is the widescreen and not fullscreen. I ordered wide but the order list does not indicate anything.
I think it is the WS (I've considered picking it up from them). If it's not, the Disney DVD club is surprisingly good about returns and whatnot. I bought "The Emporer's New Groove" when I joined, because I thought it was the good version, but it wasn't, so I just E-mailed them and they took it back right away.

Cock cleaners?

About to sign up with Heavyweights, Nightmare..., Maty Poppins, and Kiki's Delivery Service. Why must I spend money. Thanks for the awesome deal though GuamGuy!

Joe1086 07-01-04 06:47 PM

Just got my shipping confirmation! Only took about 2 weeks to get it.

I placed the other on the 15th. Called them up the other day to ask what the problem was. All I know is that I wouldnt hold my breath when waiting to recieve an order.

Class316 07-06-04 09:23 AM

I got off the phone with the customer service and they said that my orders are all packed and ready for shipment. I also got some crap that they can’t have a debit card on file but this payment will go through and I can use the debit card to pay for future stuff. She removed it from file and wanted to put a credit card on file but I didn’t give any number cause I don’t like to use a credit card on the net. In any case I’ll for now wait for my shipment and decide if I’ll close the account and forget about it or order more treasures to sell on ebay.

The Black 07-06-04 10:42 AM

I find it strange that they will not offer this to overseas customers. I'm still desperately seeking wave's 1 and 2 without paying the ridiculous prices or having to settle with damaged tins or even without the tins.
I would buy them in a heartbeat if the disney offer was opened to me. I'm however doubtful they or anybody else would want to help me out. :(

The Black 07-06-04 10:48 AM

And on a side note, runnersdialzero I've sent you an email.

Class316 07-06-04 12:35 PM

I got a shipping confirmation for the first order (not the treasures). I guess the treasures will follow.

I signed up for it June 16th and got shipping confirmation around 25th (on non-treasures) and received them about a week later. I still haven't heard about the treasures. Guess I'll give them a call......

dick_grayson 07-06-04 12:49 PM

ok, I just called. they said it will be shipped soon and that they were waiting (for some reason). Anyway, when I enrolled and made my purchases, I then called and cancelled my membership, but according to the cs rep. today, it was still active. So be careful. And yes, they're the tins, she said.

I hate to be pessimistic about this, but I wonder why it has to be "in limbo" for this long.

What is up with "Tomorrowland"? It is supposedly a very limited run (105,000 according to Amazon).

I see that Amazon.com, Costco.com and Sam's club.com are all out of stock, yet my local Costco has pleny of copies, and someone above mentioned that they had a lot at their local Wal-mart.

I couldnt find it anywhere. I went to Walmart, none there. Neither at any other stores around here. But yesterday, found one copy at Costco.

Class316 07-06-04 11:39 PM

Tomorrowland is probably the worst treasure. But it will be interesting to see how much it will go for on ebay about 2 months from now.

NCYankee 07-07-04 12:32 AM

I also found 6 sets of Tomorrowland at the local Walmart (one was badly dented).

Does the price they fetch on eBay tend to depend just on the lower production numbers, or does the quality of the set itself determine the price? Does anyone actually open these and watch them? All the ones I see for sale on eBay and Amazon.com marketplace are sealed.

g 07-07-04 12:39 AM

The price on ebay depends on whether it is available at the regular retail price elsewhere. Scarcity dictates price.

Guess it depends on your tastes. I thought Tomorrowland was the best. Considering the crossover potential with sci-fi fans (many of whom are DVD fans), I think Disney made a mistake in limiting that Treasure to such a small run.

The lower production number can't hurt but, generally, the ones which sold out the quickest -- which is to say, the ones with the most interest -- sell for the highest prices on E-bay.

Last time I checked, the first color Mickey Mouse was going for over $100, Silly Symphonies was around 75 or 80, Mickey in B&W was up between 50 and 60, Goofy was at least 40, and the others were a bit more erratic, between 20 and 50, depending on when they sold ...

With these new ones, I expect that Mickey won't get as expensive, because all the people buying it are investors ... the Donald one will probably wind up fetching a good price ... and the "War Effort" one will definitely be popular, because I know plenty of people who don't care about the Disney Treasures but like watching weird WWII cartoon propaganda.

Unfortunately, the war effort set had a production run of 250,000. I could grab a bunch of these at Costco right now, but I am leaning toward the Tomorrowland set due to the much more limited run of 105K. I plan on selling them a few years down the line.

One concern - will these hold their value once HD-DVD comes out? I would suspect they would, since the crudity of the early animation would not really benefit from increased resolution.

Nefarious 07-07-04 12:59 PM

For those interested, the club site now has Wave 3 available for $99.00 for all four.
