You could opt for the Euro versions, I bought them for the dvd's solely. However the "tin" consists of two pieces of tin that only stay together in the plastic, they don't fit over eachother to close, you do NOT receive a litho as do the R1 versions contain, and the icing on the cake is that they're not numbered.
To top all this, the latest treasures to be released here are MMILC2 and Donald, this round no tins, and there has been no confirmation as of whether there are any more Treasures planned for release. I've managed to obtain these two Treasures in R1, the way the treasures should be released worldwide! |
Originally posted by DamDavila Ok, now here's my plea: I know a few of you ordered extra sets for ebay. Now remember why you ordered the set in the first place. Because those bloodsuckers on ebay won't give up these DVDs to those who need them without a fistfull of cash. Now I NEED this set (as a whole or without the Disneyland USA, it soesn't matter). What I'm looking for is someone who will be kind enough to sell them to me at cost plus shipping, no profit. I know it is a terrible thing to ask, but your fellow board-member needs help... So how about it? Anyone? "Now remember why you ordered the set in the first place" - to make a profit. |
I continue to find it fascinating that people would use a word like "bloodsucker" to describe a seller that puts an item up for AUCTION. Auctions can end at 99 cents or $10 or $100 depending upon BIDDERS. No bidder on Ebay has EVER had a gun to their head to make a bid. They bid, they purchase, they pay and then they leave postive feedback (both the buyer and the seller do). Both the buyer and seller are thrilled with the transaction, yet the people outbid feel better by making it seem like they were screwed or the world is against them.
Blame Disney for limited print runs if you want, but other than that it is a free country (at least I hope it still is?). Without free enterprise we are not the USA. I would love to go back 3 years and not buy Disney Treasures but BUY EBAY STOCK. I would guess no one would call the stock owners bloodsuckers. |
Exactly - and I think some people need to learn the difference between NEED and WANT.
If the desired discs complete the above poster's collection and enhance its value - the only reason I could see that he would be so desperate to get them (I am sure he doesn't want to resell them for a profit himself, right?) - then I guess he should just decide how much it is worth to him. Or plan ahead better next time - this thread has been here for a while. |
Exactly to you as well NCYankee. People seem to think that they are entitled to under $20 dvds forever even if an item is rare, collectible, etc. With patience you can have ANY Disney Treasures dvd other than Mickey Color #1 on Ebay for under $40. Full Retail was $32.99 for these sets!!! Anything on LASERDISC was $50-$100 PER MOVIE. What a deal we get these days.

Disney might the release Wave 1 titles without the limited edition numbered tins in the future, as they did last Christmas through Costco (you had to buy the whole Wave 1 & 2 collection).
Reminder- now is the time to buy Wave 2 from the Disney Movie Club |

So what is the state of supply for Wave 3? Walmart's copies near me are finally gone, but Costco still has loads of Front Lines, and about a dozen copies of each of Tomorrowland and Mickey ILC vol 2. Costco online still has Chron Donald but not Tomorrowland, while Sams Club online only has Front Lines.
Amazon still has them all except Tomorrowland. |
anyone think MMILC 1 will go up in price any more?? I have 2 sealed sitting here collecting dust along with 2 Silly Symphonies
|
All Ebay prices will crest in the 2 months before Christmas (that is just the way Ebay has worked the last several years). It is an auction and more buyers are bidding around XMAS. Online xmas shopping is huge and growing larger.
Wave 3 is still available but supplies are running low. Costco, Sams and BJs have NO STOCK in any wharehouses. Everything is in their stores and that is it. Amazon will sell out before XMAS to be sure. Get them NOW (no one should have waited this long anway). Tomorrowland has approached $40+ on Amazon Marketplace in the last 2 weeks. They are going....going.....going.. |
Wouldn’t it be funny if one day the treasures are re released and all efforts to rush and buy and hunt and pay $$$ on ebay would be so wasteful.
Though chances are that won’t happen, they will probably be released in SOME form just not in that form (like Davy Crockett was). For instance they make take some cartoons in MMILC, censor them, then release it as a $10 DVD. |
I wonder if the advent of high-def dvd will affect the values - I wouldn't think so, since current technology has probably reached the limits of resolution for the source of the older cartoons anyway, so I doubt they will look any better in high-def.

Hey, just got Waves 1 and 2 in the mail from the Disney Movie Club. They look good, some minor imperfections, but they look very good overall. The Goofy set doesn't have the blue band around the front, as others have mentioned.
Anyway, just wanted to thank you folks again for the recommendation on getting the discs through the club. Couldn't have done it without you! |
