Pretty sure that it will be a Superbit, since there is already a Region 3 Superbit out. I went ahead and ordered the Region 3 so i can watch with a higher bitrate on my 100" Projector and DTS sound.

According to someone at the HTF forum --- a CTS rep from the AVS forum said a Region 1 Superbit is coming.

from davisdvd.com lastest rumors:

"And finally, look for a new and unnecessary three-disc Spider-Man: Deluxe Edition to be released in cross-promotion of the the sequel. All are due on June 1st."

The 3-Disc Spiderman Superbit is towards the bottom...and since Superbits play in Region 1 or 3.....
are you sure this Spider-man Superbit will play on a Region 1 dvd player? Or are you just guessing? I ask because that site is listing the Superbit as only Region3...

Not many, but then again, how many of Columbia's movies have made this much $$$?! There will be many releases of this title as the years go by. They'll do it because it will make them even more money.

Yup, the "Limited" (as in still collecting dust on the shelves at BB) giant shoe box edition is good enough for me.

They better keep the director's profile as an extra... I'm in that...

does anybody know the bitrate for the superbit dvds sold @ koreandvds.com ?

i'm asking because the R4 superbits have a lower bit-rate than the R1 counterparts... i don't know why though...

I saw the movie three times in theaters, bought the dvd the day it came out, and still haven't watched it yet. I'll pass on double dipping.

It looks like Sony will be releasing a Superbit and a Deluxe Edition on June 1.

So the only new extra in the Spidey set is a look at the sequel?

Why the hell did this become a 3-disc set, then?

What a waste if there's no new features for Spider-Man.

I'm still curious why this is a 3-disc set and not another 2 disc.

Is the transfer going to be new and better? The current disc looks pretty good.

Maybe it won't be a Superbit in name, but if they put only the film and commentaries on disc one it could mean more bit-room for the feature.

I think i'll pass. If it were a Superbit Deluxe version, then I would most definitely buy it.

According to DVDfile.com,

"In addition to the widescreen and full screen collector's sets and the deluxe gift box already on the market, on June 1st the studio will unleash Spider-Man: Deluxe Edition, which includes an anamorphic widescreen transfer and English and French Dolby 5.1 surround tracks, plus all the same extras as the previous version. So, what's new? Well, according to the press materials so far, absolutely nothing but new packaging."

Columbia Tri-Star, the studio which IMO has gone to far with their continual DVD re-releases and has seriously alienated me as a consumer. Go Warner Bros.!

Well, obviously SOMETHING is new. The previous package was only a 2-disc set. The new Deluxe Edition is a 3-disc set. So what's on the third disc?
