My sentiments exactly.
I noticed that too when I went back and re-read the thread after posting. Heh. Although, "exactly" wouldn't be the word I'd use. I was paraphrasing, if anything.

STATE DVD *UPDATE* APRIL 14, 2004
Finally, at long last, the members of The State are working in conjunction with MTV Home Video to make the ultimate, REAL, DVD collection of The State. We going back to the original master tapes and loading it with great extras too, including commentary, interviews, unaired material, etc. Save your money! Stop buying bootlegs! We don't know when exactly this new DVD will be released, but the second we do we'll post here and on our mailing list. (Sign up to the left) *update 4/14/04: it looks like we've finally broken through 95% of the red tape on The State DVD. Deals are being closed as we speak and we hope to have a release date for you soon.

From their official site:
update 8/1/04: Apparently there have been some regime changes and more unexpected legal delays, but MTV tells us the project is still alive and they want to release the DVD in the next six months. As always as soon as they tell us something, we'll tell you.
Nice to know that it's still in the pipeline. Still, I'm very tempted to get one of those sets off of ebay. But I'll wait.

The latest update.
STATE DVD *UPDATE* Feb 4, 2005
There is still no release date from MTV Home video for the State DVD collection. All we know is there are many people at MTV, Viacom and other places diligently working every day, trying to cut through the red tape. When we hear ANYTHING we'll post it right here.

I guess some of the music could be replaced or removed entirely, but of course we wouldn't want that, especially when the sketch suffers. In the one where the two guys go to the party and talk about "Comfortably Numb," I'd hate to not hear the song in the background. That sketch also had a Nirvana song. Good luck with that one.
I'm sorry if I got anyone's hopes up for nothing, but I just had to say it's got to be the music rights that's holding this up.

You guys are completely right, it has to be music that is slowing it down. Nothing else makes sense.I just wish I knew why Comedy Central haven't got rights to show this in syndication because they already have more than half of The State working for them.

Doesn't look like this link works anymore. Anybody know where else on the net I can get some more of my state fix? I have a few vhs copies, but I just want more, more, more! Pay the damn artists their royalties already for the licensing and release the DVDs!!!!! I wish comedy central would buy the rights so they could do a where are they now docu., but I'm sure mtv or cbs wont sell because they know (or maybe they don't) how much money they could make off this when it's released. Just recently joined the forum and so glad to see so many state fans.

Sorry to get your hopes up, but I was just surprised by the great following it had in these forums and wanted to see if there was more places to get episodes on the net.
Hopefully, since it has taken forever to get these to dvd, they will be smart and release complete seasons and not do the skits and stickers thing, which is good, but is definitely missing some of the best skits.
