The home page has a little more information that the "current status page": http://www.the-state.com/

"STATE DVD IN THE WORKS!!
Finally, at long last, the members of The State are working in conjunction with MTV Home Video to make the ultimate, REAL, DVD collection of The State. We going back to the original master tapes and loading it with great extras too, including commentary, interviews, unaired material, etc. Save your money! Stop buying bootlegs! We don't know when exactly this new DVD will be released, but the second we do we'll post here and on our mailng list. (Sign up at stellacomedy.com)"

The word ultimate increases my hopes that it will be a full season by season release. Excellent, excellent news!

Does anyone remember which episode was the one about 'adidums'?

"So...for less money, I get extra stripe".

That one is probably my favorite skit.

Great news! One thing I can imagine delaying this release: music licensing. There's speculation that the reason the Simpsons sets are trickling in slowly is because of the music licensing. Didn't the State use a TON of music in their episodes? Maybe MTV planned ahead. Hopefully, this won't tie it up. Can't wait to see Bologna Sandwich Feet again.

I've been on a nostalgia trip, watching heavily compressed postage-stamp sized skits on statemedia...I hope this comes out soon. One of the most consistently hilarious shows on TV.

(how do I get that damn "Jew, Italian and Redhead Gay" song out of my head...!?)

The State is good and all, but what I want from MTV is BUZZKILL. Any of you watch or remember that?? Probably one of the most hilarious shows I've seen on TV - ever.

The State was always funnier than Buzzkill. The only MTV show I am really waiting for besides The State is Idiot Box. Hopefully if the State DVD does good they will think about it. I could use some more Eddie the Flying Gimp.

I cannot wait for this DVD set. I'm as excited about this as I am about Indy or anything else.

"He's not an alien. He's from Pittsburgh."
"But he has a beard."

I'm trying to find this skit:

It's set in the office of a private school/orphanage. They bring a kid in and sit him down and explain that they lied about him being brought there as an orphan and his parents dying. The truth, they say, is that he's superman and has super powers. Then they pull a cape and stuff out of a vault/chest and put it on the kid. The kid proceeds to try and fly out the window and of course falls flat. They laugh and say how it works every time and to bring the next kid in.

Update:

nevermind, I found it. Super Robby from episode 311.

*update 12/14/03*: The project seems to be stuck in some sort of quagmire between MTV Home Video and Paramount Home Video. We're trying to cut through the red tape - keep signing the petition and write letters to both companies...

This better f'in come out. I sold my copy of Skits and Stickers on ebay a couple of months ago.

*update 4/14/04: it looks like we've finally broken through 95% of the red tape on The State DVD. Deals are being closed as we speak and we hope to have a release date for you soon.

"What would you rather do, eat a booger sandwich or take a crap in public?"

All I want to see is the Justice League of Superheros sketch where Superman tells Aquaman to go talk to some fish then grabs his crotch.

I loved that theme song (first version), and I remember thinking, "how many damn people are on this show?!"

And only one chick. Impressive.

It'll be nice to get the source of lesser works such as Viva Variety, Wet Hot American Summer and Reno 911.

My favorite skit (although the Justice league is up there): The Cerealist Commercial. Genius.

BOMM,

CS

I'm foaming at the mouth just thinking about this! Sweeeet!

I loved the Justice League sketch, as well as the Sea Monkeys one. Anybody remember that one?

Nice... can't wait.. Now, if they just could get The Maxx out on DVD. My VHS copy is almost worn out.
