It could be that the rights holders weren't willing to grant usage, wanted too much money or maybe MTV just didn't want to try.

Re: Fans of MTV's "The State" Rejoice
I noticed some techno song on Season 2 was the original version. I can't remember it off the top of my head, but I thought it was kind of odd....
I wonder if someone will make their own version based on the dvds but with the original music.

Why does IMDB list this as having 29 episodes (including the pilot)? It says there were 8 shows the first season? Another obvious music change is "Canada" for "Panama". you can even see them mouthing Panama.

For season one, there were six episodes recorded (101-106) but for some reason, MTV didn't air 104 and 105 and instead combined them into 107, and then 108 was just a compilation show

Haven't had time to check them with different music, but thought that was weak. I did like the letter to the fans to explain the music and trying to keep the integrity of the original sketches.

My guess is it was because the original audio may have been lost to time. Also, sometimes bleeps are just funnier.

Looks like every episode is not available for Instant Streaming on Netflix
As a newbie, what would be the best episodes to watch?

Episode 102 introduces 2 of the shows most memorable characters, 107 has one of their best-ever sketched (Mind Match).
As a sketch show, nearly every episode is hit-and-miss, although The State had more hits than misses.

Frank Rizzo was used well before the Jerky Boys, it was in a few National Lampoon Radio Hour sketches in the 70s as well.
