Another case of duplicate DVD covers from an actor

Inspired by the old Tom Cruise cover thread, I wondered why the cover to the new title "Trapped" (Kevin Bacon) looked so much like the pose from the "Stir of Echoes" cover.

While I realize it's impossible to keep coming up with original ideas for cover art, this, to me, is just lazy.

And although I wasn't able to duplicate the 'Tom Cruise cover art likeness phenomenon,' I did notice that Tom Cruise was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon, making that connection in only 1 degree.

As paranoid as I can be (I'd be one of the first to scream "conspiracy"), I really think this is just coincidence.

The worst offender of this is Audrey Tautou on the cover of Happenstance. It uses a picture of her from the movie Venus Beauty Institute.

Of course the actors are different, but look at the head shots of McQueen and Willis on The Great Escape and Hart's War. The way they're posed is almost identical.

Maybe it's just me?

I guess the only way to avoid this kind of thing would be to just show the backs of heads for a while.....

My father looked at some of my custom DVD covers once. He said "Wow! you could do this professionaly!" I said "No, I'm not stupid enough..."

I saw these in a department store side by side, and from a distance, thought they were Widescreen and P&S versions of the same movie:

Of course, Ben Affleck has been the victim of this before:

Look how much these two covers look alike:

It's like every movie that Carrot Top stars in winds up with the same cover!

I'm not sure why this made me laugh so much, but it did. Thank you.

I realize that the lower Carrot Top image is of a VHS, but if you look closely, you can see how they've cropped the image to fit on that box. Isn't it about time we extend demands of OAR to the artwork???

Pan & Scan Artwork???

Actually, it's the same idea as all the art that was hacked to death when going from Vinyl to Cassette. Hopefully most of you, who read this, are old enough to remember the LP to tape transition?? Anyone? Please????

I realize this is on purpose, but I thought I'd post it in case someone didn't realize the spoof:

And isn't that one a spoof on a certain other movie?

Actually, I always thought Vacation was spoofing Conan.

Well, I think fantasy art all has a very similar look to it. Boris Vallejo did the Vacation cover and I don't think he really copies (directly) from any one source, it's just a general 'Fantasy" pose.

Even though the Star Wars and Conan posters have the same sort of pose, European Vacation and Joe Dirt have the woman holding the leg and the dog between the legs, which lead me to believe they were 'direct' spoofs.

p.s. Even the horizon line (slooping down from the left to right) is very similar.

It happened to Affleck again. Envy & Surviving Christmas. Can some one post them side by side? I'm not capable of it.

absolutely agree. That and the fact that Venus Beauty is not 16/9...they never made it to my collection. Got the R2s instead....
