well said Static Clean..no need to shout we can all read here!..Tyler is also right the current edition is a SE..Besides the only thing missing would be a commentary. I thaught the short documentary was enough...
You wouldn't be able to improve on the picture quality also in my view so what would be the point..Unless we get brand new interviews with the whole cast like they did with the Usual Suspects and Reservoir Dogs then it might be worth the $$$

I thought I remember someone in a WB chat earlier this yr mentioning a SE was in the works. It also seems to be confirmed in the rerelease(s) thread above, probably from that same source.

Yes, it was mentioned in the chat that there would be a new edition.
I think it could use one. It was released in 1998 when the standard for picture quality wasn't as high as it is now, and 2-disc sets were unheard of. It could certainly benefit from a new transfer. The difference probably wouldn't be night and day, but it would be noticeable.
Of course, I would rather see them redo something that really needs it like Blade Runner or their fullscreen-only titles, but regardless, I would welcome a new edition of L.A. Confidential.

Man, that film had an amazing cast: Russell Crowe, Kevin Spacey, Guy Pearce, James Cromwell, Danny DeVito, David Straitharn. Even more amazing that Kim Basinger, who gave the worst performance in the film, ended up with the Oscar.

Alas, I shall pout as well about the 2007 date. Let's push that to mid-2006, please.

An SE would be very nice, but Curtis Hansen hasn't done any audio commentaries or given any special features worth a darn so far (well, besides that Bob Dylan video in The Wonder Boys). I don't expect him to start now.

What would the upcoming SE entail? What "new" extras will be presented - since this is "rumored" to be a 2-disc set, I suppose the extras will be in abundance. The current edition (ugh - snapper) has many, many extras, so I can't imagine what else might be included.
Any updates?

As for what it will entail, we'll have to wait and see. In addition to the needed new transfer (and those who have HD will know why that's so important), we should get some retrospective material. Hopefully there will be a commentary, if not from Hansen, maybe someone else. A James Ellroy commentary would be a real hoot.
