King of New York

A new steelbook released today in the uk, but not advertised on any of the usual sites such as Amazon, hmv, zaavi or play.
They show the film as a special edition 2 disc.
I picked up mine in a Zaavi store but they did have it at hmv also.

i can't get into those horizontal cases. it goes against every case, keep or steel, in the entire world.

I know what you mean about the horizontal cases. I think thats my lot for the horizontal steelbooks..

The 12 monkeys and total recall horizontal editions look nice but i already have them in the upright steelbooks. I like the look of the king kong one too..

It wouldn't be so bad if they sold them in the uk, as it's expensive importing them. It seems particularly expensive getting dvds from spain (postage.)

yeah, Spain seems to be the priciest of the Big 3 (UK, Germany, Spain)

I like the horizontal ones, it's something different to add to the collection. I picked up some of the horizontal ones from Sweden. I found out when they came in that the text on the back is entirely in English. They also have that ET, and I'll pick that one up later. I just wish they had artwork on the inside.

Here's the first two I picked up, both from Sweden:

Gladiator:

The Chronicles of Riddick:

The horizontal covers remind me of those movie billboard posters. I think the artwork looks impressive in that format. It does clash with the upright dvds but i suppose that only matters if you are taking pictures of them together.

It would be good if they put artwork on the inside of the cases too, i agree..I like how you get a booklet with each release though. The psycho one is tempting.. but there is a psycho collection coming out in a steelbook edition next month i think (in uk.)

I ordered that 'metal case' edition of butch cassidy that was listed on play.com along with the day the earth stood still.

They both arrived this morning and... Butch cassidy was in a plastic case.. The day the earth stood still was in a steelbook case though (fortunately.)

So butch cassidy is going back, i will look for it in a store. I'm quite annoyed really because it is false advertising, why list it as a steelbook when it isn't. I do realise it is probably human error but still annoyed.

So my advice to anybody buying cinema reserve steelbooks online is: it's a gamble.

Where to buy it and such.

People keep saying said info isn't allowed on the Forum or whatnot, I just think it looks really cool.

jpc.de is showing this cover for the German Iron Man:

Amazon is showing it without the writing... I liked it because it was plain and simple, yet badass.. that writing in German is really distracting.

Any word on whether or not this will be part of the case?

I was thinking that, but we all know how studios love to flash unnecessary crap all over the front covers.

I guess I'll wait and see if anyone else picks it up what the deal is with the text. I'm not shelling out nearly $50 for a cover that's littered with text.

plus, doesn't Amazon.de usually have exclusive art work? maybe howwon knows better? or maybe someone with other "Cine Collection" SteelBook can verify writing or not...

spanish steelbooks confusion

Oddly, some spanish steelbook titles that have already been released as single disc editions seem to be getting a double disc edition, again as a steelbook..

Both 'ghost' and 'grease' are due to have double disc editions according to dvdgo.
