It contains 5 discs in a single width case...My bet is that 24 is double wide to make room for all 7 discs of 24.

ok, i'll give you Bourne and possibly BG, but 24:S1 is not and if it is double-wide like you now say than it wouldn't be the traditional steelbooks for obvious reasons. there is simply no way to fit 7 discs in single wide case.

Never said they were going fit 7 discs in a single width. If you go back and actually look at the 24 pic, you will see it is double wide. And if when it comes out, and it is branded Steelbook, than it can still be included in this forum, because the thread is titled "Definitive List of DVD's with "Steelbook" cases?", and makes no mention of either including nor excluding a variant, but official, Steelbook case.

And really, are you telling me that you wouldn't be interested in a Steelbook that is double-wide simply because it is not single-wide? The allure of a Steelbook for me is how nice they look, coupled with how collectible they are. The dimensions of the case are irrelevant so long as the presentation and content are as superior as they have been in the past.

you know what...you make a good argument and seem really passionate about the cause and we'll just have to see. plus, i love your use of "allure".
if it holds true to the steelbook design. i would def. consider it since i don't have the old version. but, the pic really makes it out to be a tin rather than steelie.

does history dictate that TWEC's "Beowulf" steelbook will have the same cover art as Futureshop (sans the French of course)? because i really want that simply stated design they have...

I would guess so, except with English writing.

My question about that (and Bee Movie) is why the case is shaped different. The edge where it clasps together protrudes out on that, and Bee Movie it's just shaped differently than a Steelbook altogether.

johnsun 02-21-08 06:37 PM

Some of the FutureShop steelbook are in all English, but would have a clear French sticker that is ontop of the strink wrap.. Maybe db27 in the bargain forums would know and they probably have their stock and waiting to be put out next week..

From the news release, it does not state that the 24 Season one will be released as a Steelbook.

From the release, the material our contact has speaks of collectible "tin" packaging, possible of the "Steelbook" sort that Fox has used on some of its film releases lately.

We'll have to wait until May 20, to put this matter to rest.

As for Battlestar Galactica - Season 3, I'll post pictures on March 18.

it's just that with the overloading of the discs in there i don't think it makes for a secure/good steelbook. the "Spawn" steelbook while tight and all feels like if i open it one or two times the whole thing will fall apart. it is just so condensed, when i open it i feel like a slinky-like clown head will pop out and the whole thing will go to shit.

I think it's more like Band of Brothers.

I received confirmation from Steelbook that Battlestar Galactica - Season 3 is in a Steelbook case.

Hi xxx. It will be a 6 disc Steelbook case normal DVD dimensions. It looks awesome by the way! As good as X men 3

shoot just realized that :( it will make things harder, but it will nonetheless be mine :D

darmok 02-25-08 08:31 PM

last week's Dragonball Z Double Feature (History of Trunks/Bardock) is a steelbook.

darmok 02-25-08 08:36 PM

got a copy of the FYE version -- it does not have the French subtitle on the cover, so it's a bit better than the Futureshop version. the perimeter is debossed, and the logo embossed. simple, and not as ugly as the low-res pic depicts it as.

It's 19.99. I was shocked since Transformers steelbook was standard 26.99 and I bought both autobot and decepticon when it came out.

When I worked for TWEC a couple years back, we would get stock the thursday before it is released...

someone also said there is a $5.00 MIR which would make it $14.99 for a Steelbook!!

johnsun 02-26-08 06:03 PM

I just came back from my run after work. The Futureshop steelbook indeed have French printed on the front, not a sticker..

Good think I pre-ordered the TWEC version just in case..

Yeah, my friend was at FYE yesterday and the clerk mentioned there was a $5 MIR. Does only have a copy of the rebate slip and can confirm when the purchase needs to be made? I probably can't go to pick it up until the first week of March..
