In Futureshop Canada, only DIE HARD is 2-disc, the next 2 in the trilogy are all one disc
I haven't put the DVDs in the player yet but as far as I can see no special features in the others either! So useless, you're pretty much JUST buying Die Hard 2 and 3 for the case as far as I can see
Maybe someone who's played the DVD's can find something different but the copies I'm holding in my hand, sure aren't that big a deal honestly.

I can confirm that the Best Buy Exclusive Steelbooks for "Die Hard" , "Die Hard 2", & "Die Hard With A Vengeance" are the 2-disc SE's that were previously released. the backs of the steelbooks are absolutely no indication of 2-discs with all the special features!
why would Futureshop only have the 1-disc if BB USA has 2-disc? that seems so odd...

Hello sharanium,
I learned a long time ago, to never trust the information a stores website. Unless the webpage designer is DVD collector, such as yourself and I, the finer details are sometimes overlooked.
Did anyone else get their copies of Die hard 4, a week before the official release date?

I got Live Free Die Hard last week too, before the official release date lol. Futureshop sure is on top of things haha. Same thing happened with my copy of Ratatouille, although that was only a Friday before the release date instead of a whole week ahead of time!

Howwon, just a word of advise...
I think it is better if you edited your last photo of Live Free or Die Hard.
Your unique serial number can be used by others.

Hello,
I'm a long time lurker. I recently emailed Scanova a few questions I had about steelbooks, and they got back to me within 36 hours. I thought others might like to hear the answers so here goes...
1) What was the first issued DVD in the steelbook format?
The first ever SteelBook(tm) issued was Killzone PS2 in Europe. This was November 2004. The first ever SteelBook(tm) DVD was Hero by Eagle Pictures in Italy. There was a retail and rental version available.
2) What was the first US/Region 1 DVD released in this format?
The first ever North American ( US) title was Appleseed by Geneon Entertainment. This version sold at $35 and was a two disc matte finish. Geneon didn't stop there. in addition to the plastic $20 version single disc and then the SteelBook(tm), Geneon put a blister pack around the Steelbook(tm) and added in a figurine which sold at $50USD. This was a limited collector edition which sold out in a few days.
3) Do you have a list of all DVDs released to date in the steelbook format?
re a list you can maybe look at the following links
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/showthread....&page=15&pp=25
www.steelbooks.de
http://www.steelbooks.de.vu/ - FYI there is one Blu-Ray Pans Labyrinth on the market. PS3 also and hopefully some HD soon.
4) Any plans for the steelbook format to include HD and/or BluRay titles in the future?
We have both Blu-Ray and HD SteelBook(tm) products we are marketing. see above point. Hopefully many more to follow. In my opinion SteelBook(tm) makes complete sense for these formats. The packaging mirrors the hi-tech content. As consumers we are paying more whilst still in standard packaging.
I thought it was cool he gave a shout out to DVDtalk! Looking at some of the foreign links for steelbooks it seems like there is a lot more steelbooks being released in the foreign market. Hopefully, the US catches up soon with them opening up a plant in Ohio... anyone want to organize a field trip?

Hey thanks for sharing that steelbookfan.
I myself am a new fan of the packaging so it was interesting reading about its origins and where its heading!
So is the Appleseed (without the figurine) steelbook now sold out?

Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest
I was doing some research on eBay for the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest Steelbook.
The day that the auction closed at $182.50, there was another listing that had closed on the same day, with a BIN for $92.99, and that was for a new and sealed copy.
Interesting, a buyer/bidder from the U.K. was involved in both listings.

It appears that the buyer of the new copy, was also trying to win the used copy. I'm not sure why, as he had already bought a new copy for a lots less than what he was bidding on, for a used copy.
I have a few theories, but nothing that I want to post on the open board.
